AOC: These companies are not paying for their own energy infrastructure. People energy bills around the country are skyrocketing in order to pay for these A.I. data centers  Working people are already living paycheck-to-paycheck in some states off of wages as low as $7.25 an hour. Another federal minimum wage that congress also refuses to raise. They simply cannot afford another increase to their bill. While the American people are suffering, big tech continues to demand more. More data centers, energy, more data collection, more American jobs replaced by A.I., all on the feet of the American people to pay.

A suggestion for the people criticizing AOC and Bernie for wanting to ban data centers without a plan: read the bill first. The entire point of their data center moratorium is to force companies and the government to protect working people before we rapidly expand AI.

Government must deliver for working people—and every dollar in our budget should work as hard as they do. That’s why I directed every agency to cut waste and help close our budget gap. Here’s some of what we found.
