@theajennda @AuthorLeishman It's literally the most torturous fitness device I've ever used. Satan himself was on the engineering team, for that thing, and it's no more than a fan blade. 🤣 It's not even powered, beyond the timer.

Genre ... One could call it fantasy, or alternate history. It's not really pinned down by either, as there are other facets. I'm using a narrative triangulation from three differing perspectives that never meet, and one isn't even in the same time. That's what it took to create an event and it's effects. There are three narratives, but it's not a trilogy. Nobody from any of them meet any of the others, and one is a fable I've twisted to produce an innocent and ignorant perspective, to help drive the points home. Each is self-contained, so it doesn't matter who reads what. Read them all, though, and the full theme will hit like a hammer.

@RealBSP3 Thanks for checking it out! I'm super late to the Substack game but it's sort of a blogging platform. Kind of fun to serialize a story there! What genre(s) are you writing? It probably makes perfect sense not to have a villain.

Still making a few last-minute tweaks to Episode Fifteen before it goes live tonight. Introducing your main villain is kind of a big deal. 😅 There's still time to catch up on the story before it launches! 🔗👇

If there's one thing that will always make me watch, it's isekai. I love the concept, and I'll watch anything of the sort. I get a kick out of the anime, and I'll watch any of it, but not everyone realizes that Army of Darkness is the same thing. It's been done many times. I was about to film episode one of my own, just to get my hands in it, but injuries finally got to me. I've just found I can't be fixed. That being the case, screw it. I'm going to reclaim over 20 years of training in a new way, and film it anyway. Fun Details: $10,000 budget (my choice), so it's mainly a locked room mystery after a collision, but the opening does feature cool shots and fights, hinting at what may come next. So long as I can pull off that crazy stuff again, I'm good. I don't need much, but it's got to be compelling. As for the cliche entry, I chose a car accident. I've still got police, EMS, and an entire fire department waiting to be a part of it all, and a land owner who will let me dig out one of his ditches to make it realistic. It's ready to film, on that point. There's a wild, fully in-camera effect where I change one room into another as a moonbeam drags a window's shadow across the floor. I've tested it in miniature. I have what I need for full scale. I've got to be the main character, for this one, because of insurance issues, but most of the time my face won't be on camera, and when it is, it'll be quick pans when up close and longer holds from a distance at 24FPS. Nobody will be able to make me out. The idea is to replace me if it gets any traction, without anyone noticing. I don't want to do this more than once. The villain (not necessarily a plot point, but needed for combat in the intro), is someone I know who's willing to effectively sign his life away. 🤣 I can't just plug him in as the hero in the pilot, as I'm the one who can move properly, but he's picking up enough to be a foil, and he has the right look and build. Everything's in camera, from a "magically charging gun" scene with glowing rounds in the chamber, to the same effect on swords. A prop gun is almost ready to replicate my custom SAA revolver. Firing needs to happen, but that won't be on scene; it'll be on private land and cut in. I've got film of choreography, good shots of him, and a lens test filmed with blowing grass to check the color grade and costume materials. Minor modifications, and the gear is ready.

Do you like Isekai? I'm not an anime guy AT ALL, but here are some awesome films which channel the same feeling. Let me know if you know others along this line. Also, I don't know if time travel counts as "isekai" but I decided it does. Deal with it. 1/6

@SCShipyards Agreed. It's dumb. One time. Just one. That's all we need. Hell, if I had my way we'd all be using universal time. All we need is one number for the whole world. Everyone knows whether or not it's day or night. You can tell. There's light in the sky during the day.

It's still hilarious to us that humies diddle with their clocks twice an orbit as if it does anything other than increase strokes & heart attacks, traffic accidents, workplace injuries, and depressive symptoms. We don't really care what time you choose, just stop being dumb.

BREAKING: The House has passed legislation to make Daylight Saving Time permanent nationwide, ending the twice-a-year clock changes by a 308-117 vote. Backed by President Trump, the bill now heads to the Senate. If approved and signed into law, Americans would no longer have to change their clocks.

@TechOperator I just heard a great exhaust about half an hour ago. I didn't see the car, but I know it was a Borla cat back. I heard it start, idle, and pull out of the lot, but I was busy with stuff and on the phone.

After 5 years of EV ownership, it finally happened. My wife spent hours at a charger on a road trip yesterday, and we would not change a thing. What happened? She was attending a friend's funeral in Wichita Falls, TX. To get home more quickly, she stopped at a DC quick charger before the funeral. When leaving, she set the destination to Wichita Falls, TX, instead of home. The EV charged for a few minutes, then let her know she was ready to continue. She arrived in Wichita Falls, TX, with 10% energy. That place is a ghost town for EV charging. All chargers are at dealerships or available only to hotel guests. The next DC fast charger required 18% battery to reach, with a safety margin. Fortunately, the Hilton staff gave her permission to charge after I called the front desk. One spot was left when she arrived, so waiting was not an issue. But all chargers were running, so the charging rate was painfully slow. After about 2 hours, she finally had enough energy to continue. When she finally reached the DC charger, it took about 15 minutes to get more than enough juice to make it the rest of the way home. But here’s the thing: we have three EVs, charge at home, and, by conservative estimates, we have saved weeks of time and thousands of dollars with EV ownership. Can you get stuck at a charger for hours? Yes. Does it happen often? No. Would you rather spend weeks of time and thousands of dollars on ICE fueling and maintenance? We wouldn’t.

Somehow, whoever Trident is managed to design the best phone and tablet cases. The silicone goes on first, and then hard plastic snaps over it and holds it all tight. You can beat the devil out of those things, but they're not the thinnest. If they make one for your model, consider it, if proper durability is a concern. The problem is, they don't make them for everything. I've no idea who they are, or if they're just some white label brand, but they've been out there a while, and everyone else is building things backwards. They're the only ones doing it this way. So unless this stuff is sold all over another nation under many names, they've got their own factory line.

@Mike_Sharpe_ I like what you did. 🔥 Find a cave to draw it in, and in thousands of years, people will say it had religious significance. 🤣 Imagine, all those years ago ... "Dude. Check out this bull. It's the best." "No way, man, mines better!" "Think so? New cave, new rules, pal."

I love that film. It was absolutely brilliant, as a concept, and it's what Shakespeare would have done, today. Modernizing the setting but using the original dialog gave a visual anchor to words that transcend centuries. He wasn't writing snooty stuff. We've just come to believe that. He was a writer for everyone, and his plays are awesome. They're plays, though. They were never intended to be read as a novel; nor were they intended to be boring to watch. The man was an entertainer.

@RealBSP3 @frontierism One of the things about the 1996 Romeo & Juliet was that the director specifically modernized the setting but not the play's dialogue for the movie. They just adapted the film to make the original dialogue work & expected the audience to figure it out.
