"86" means "eliminate" and is slang for "kill." If James Comey meant "impeach," why didn't he just say "impeach"? James Comey is the former FBI Director. He knew exactly how these words would be interpreted by millions who saw them. I suspect DOJ has additional evidence beyond just the message itself, which is why it took a year to build the case. DOJ might have text messages, witnesses to conversations, and other evidence that puts further context around the message. There might be FBI training manuals that explain that "86" is slang or code for "kill." "Incitement" is the act of urging, prompting, or instigating -- which this certainly is. "86" means eliminate, which most understand is "kill" in this context. Yes, you could say "86" an item on a menu if you're a restaurant owner. This would not be an incitement to kill because it's talking about a menu item. You could say "Kill this item on the menu." You could say "Kill that scene in the movie" if you're a movie director. This would not be incitement to murder. Context matters. When one says "eliminate" a person, a President, this means "kill" -- especially given that this was exactly how the term was being used online in thousands of posts by the Left. "Impeach" and "remove" from office are different than "eliminate" the person And further context here is there had been at least two assassination attempts on President Trump within a few months leading up to Comey's message that was seen by tens of millions of people. A bullet hit Trump's ear. Now we have this third assassination attempt the other day. If "8647" is repeated online often enough to tens of millions of people (as many were doing at that time), all it takes is a few unhinged fanatics (or one) to act on Comey's suggestion. The grand jury was persuaded that an indictment is called for. Also, the U.S. District Court where this case is being brought is in Raleigh, North Carolina -- not the District of Columbia. So Comey will have a jury of typical Americans, not a 100% Democrat jury. I would not want to be James Comey right now. He's in a heap of trouble. I would like to see DOJ @FBIDirectorKash @DAGToddBlanche go after the Krassenstein Bros @krassenstein @EdKrassen who have repeatedly suggested (I believe outright called for) the assassination of President Trump.
