I will be vindicated in my view that social media and app-based influencer models of engagement—when it comes to faith, especially—ultimately devalue and debase everything. It is shocking that @JonHaidt is winning this battle very clearly when it comes to schools—and yet churches and faith-based communities seem to have their heads buried in the sand, at least 10 years behind schools. Many are cheering Mark Whalberg flexing his biceps on a prayer app as if it's a great win for evangelization, in the same way naive teachers did when companies were subsidizing handouts of edtech tablets. It's not as different as you think.

It is hard to explain how many errors are being committed in @nytimes seemingly harmless paragraph. Priors are wrong, descriptions are wrong, conclusions are wrong. The inhumane & morally ignorant are woefully ill-equipped to steward AI. They don’t even know what intelligence is.

We can’t even make machines that are alive. We don’t even try. Biology is baffled at simply trying to define life. So why would we think we can skip over life’s irreproducibility and make machines have the functions of life, especially the highest ones such as willing & knowing?

Also a reminder that National Review’s grasp of the talking filibuster is so remedial that they published an op-ed from one of their masthead writers accusing me of wanting to nuke the filibuster because I proposed dealing with Dem amendments by offering tabling motions (non-debatable motions considered at 51 votes). Tabling is a very basic procedural reality that exists in some form in every parliamentary body. But to NR, it’s the nuclear option 😂

People who argue that age verification requires collecting and retaining massive troves of personal data are not operating in good faith. They're just paid by people who want to prey on your kids.

We already have "Digital ID" — at least how some critics describe it. Big Tech companies collect massive amounts of user data. That’s why they have enormous valuations. They monetize our data in creative and shocking ways. But age verification has nothing to do with that.
