@JohnAndrewDors3 "I, Sister Faustina Kowalska, by the order of God, have visited the Abysses of Hell... What I have written is but a pale shadow of the things I saw. But I noticed one thing: That most of the souls there are those who disbelieved that there is a hell." (Diary 741)

@JesusIsLord0405 @Lotharvs @MrCasey62 When biologist Lewis Thomas was asked what message he would choose to send into outer space in the Voyager spacecraft, he said: “I would send the complete works of Johann Sebastian Bach … but that would be boasting.”

That might be the single most ridiculous statement I’ve read in a long time.
Mozarts Requiem is amazing, besides that he’s knows to be an “empty genius”, because he is very amazing and obviously a genius, but his music lacks the depth that is regularly found in Bach.
Just look at a normal fugue from Bach, it’s unlike virtually anything before and after him in any time.

@IMPERATORAUS Excellent thread! I didn't realize the extent of the Jesuit impact. Did you watch Scorsese's Silence? What did you think, if so?

As a result of the suppression order, the Jesuits were forcibly removed from their institutions and territories across Catholic empires in both Europe and the New World.
The Jesuits' extensive network of schools, colleges, missions, and other properties were either permanently closed, transferred to other religious orders, or given to state.
Many Jesuits were deported to the Papal States in Italy or confined to Islands where they could be monitored or forced to endure voyages that led to mass deaths.
In other places such as Naples, Jesuits were threatened with execution if they returned to their territories.

The Society of Jesus, commonly known as the Jesuits, was founded in 1534 by St Ignatius of Loyola, a Basque nobleman and former soldier from northern Spain.
Ignatius experienced a profound spiritual transformation while recovering from a battle wound, inspiring him to redirect his martial prowess to the service of Jesus Christ.
During this period, Ignatius developed the Spiritual Exercises, a structured guide for prayer and meditation aimed at fostering a deeper relationship with God and understanding His will – all within the context of spiritual warfare.
