🔥 Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has revoked the diplomatic courtesies granted to certain Danish representatives in Taiwan after the Danish government continues to designate the nationality of Taiwanese nationals in Denmark as “China” (Chinese) on their Danish residence permits in spite of repeated protests and requests from Taiwan. cna.com.tw/news/aipl/2026…

Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) has urged the Danish government to correct its description of Taiwan on residence permits that implies Taiwan is part of the People's Republic of China (PRC) or face retaliatory measures. MOFA spokesman Hsiao Kuangwei (蕭光偉) said Taiwan "condemned" the Danish government's listing of the nationality of Taiwanese citizens on residence permits as "China." The change is not consistent with the longstanding foreign policy of EU member states nor with the principles of democracy and human rights. Taipei has repeatedly issued protests to Copenhagen over the years, urging it to correct the designation, but has received no response so far. He added that if the Danish government continued to ignore Taiwan's request due to pressure from the PRC, Taipei would launch retaliatory measures, but he did not say what those measures might be. Commenting on the same issue last week, Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍) said Taiwan was considering adjusting the privileges and immunities currently granted to staff at the Danish representative office in Taiwan, also without elaborating. He added that Taiwan has asked other friendly nations around the world to jointly urge Copenhagen to make the necessary changes as soon as possible. Hsiao's comments came days after Danish-language newspaper Berlingske reported that the Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration (SIRI) had responded to complaints from Taiwanese residents in Denmark. The agency said that listing their children's nationality as "China" was not a mistake, but reflected the Danish government's position that it does not recognize Taiwan as an independent country and considers it "under China." According to Berlingske, Denmark is the only EU member state that lists Taiwanese nationality as China rather than Taiwan. focustaiwan.tw/politics/20260…

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PHONE OUT IN PUBLIC IN CENTRAL LONDON! Was stood waiting to cross the road at corner Marble Arch and Oxford Street just now and turned to see bloke on very fast electric bike heading up behind me. I turned and he turned away. I stood and watched as it was obvious what was going to happen next and sure enough, he snatched the phone of a young woman stood at the bus stop. Then off down Oxford Street for more. Face fully covered. If we had a police force in London this could easily be stopped, but instead, dozens of people a day have their lives made shit by these vermin. I’m in a shop writing this. Put your phone away on the streets. Take care. Be safe.

Arbitrarily dismissing our publication as a "report" is an abandonment of factually grounded analysis, which doesn't just cast 🇹🇷 in a negative light, but demonstrates the country's entanglement with violent jihadist entities, which is vital to understanding where Ankara's preferences lie under Erdogan Which then leads us to Turkey's bona fides as a NATO member. A tweet about NATO's operational dependence on Turkey is simply a soundbite, which has little basis in reality at this point. NATO is a point of leverage for Erdogan to extort gains for his expansionist regional policy, while barely living up to the responsibilities of membership: aiding Russia's war effort by sales of dual-use goods, holding NATO expansion hostage. In the event of a major Russian escalation towards NATO, do we seriously expect Turkey to stand up for Europe, its sovereignty, borders and its peoples? The country has nothing but contempt for the West. To forward an argument that under increased Russian aggression against Europe or the Black Sea, Ankara would do anything but keep its distance under fancy terms such as "active neutrality" - or worse, cut a deal with Moscow, is sadly mistaken and a fundamental inability to perceive how far TR has drifted from its western anchor. If this fails to convince, ask any member of Congress other than Joe Wilson, who believes otherwise. Many natsec persons in/outside the Trump administration are convinced of this: TR only wants defense articles from the US such as F-35's and plane engines, not as a means to become a more formidable ally of NATO or the US, but bc of Ankara's desire for strategic autonomy: in their words "give us what we want and leave us alone to do what we want" This trope of Ankara being a capable NATO ally that the alliance desperately needs and relies on is a fatigued narrative that most policy makers in Washington and Europe only pay lip service to, but don't believe a word of in private

Same FDD thesis: first a report, now a Jerusalem Post op-ed framing Turkiye as ‘the new Iran.’ But the argument struggles against operational reality. The article presents Israeli security concerns as NATO strategy without addressing NATO’s actual operational dependence on Turkiye. Treating a country that carries this much of the alliance’s strategic weight as an adversary is a misreading of the map. Or something else? The deeper question the article avoids: if the US is questioning its own NATO commitment and European allies are restricting base access during an active conflict, what framework replaces Turkish geography, military capacity, and diplomatic reach on the southeastern flank?

As an Iranian, let me tell you what @POTUS is talking about here: In Iran, if you protest, you die. Not metaphorically. Snipers on rooftops shoot people in the head and chest. In January, the regime massacred thousands in the streets, many of them young people whose only crime was demanding a normal life. When he says Iranians are telling the U.S. “please keep bombing” he’s describing a population so desperate to be free from a regime that murders them for protesting, that they’re willing to endure war if it means the system that has terrorized them for 47 years finally falls. You may not understand that. Most Westerners can’t. You’ve never lived in a country where your daughter can be shot in the face for not covering her hair. Where your son disappears into Evin Prison and you get a call to come pick up the body. Where the internet goes dark so the world can’t see the killing. That’s what “they have lived in a world that you know nothing about” means. Before the media turns this into “Trump wants to bomb civilians,” understand: the Iranian people have been begging the world to see them for years. This is the first U.S. president to say it out loud.

I love the camera person's commentary in this one! "They keep talking shit, but the US destroys them." "They [the regime] are only powerful toward the weak." "Shame for so much money that they wasted like this instead of spending it on the people's welfare."

The most dangerous word in Taiwan politics right now is “peace” KMT's Zheng Liwen is flying to Beijing selling peace like she suddenly found the solution everyone’s been waiting for. But peace without leverage turns into submission fast. Hong Kong already showed how quickly “stability” can replace freedom.

@xnoesbueno Seriously, why is the EU taking a stand for the misogynistic, homophobic, anti-human psycho Islamist regime? Are they afraid of a Muslim insurrection in Europe? The regime's elimination would be a net positive for humanity. Don't they see that?

The funny part is, Europe's recalcitrance on Iran is an inconvenience for the United States, and a crisis for Europe. Energy crisis. Defense crisis. Eventually, a free health care and university crisis. And who knows, a military crisis, when they start killing each other again. Funny haha, but also funny not haha. Who's going to have to sort that out? NATO was always as much about defending Europeans from themselves as it was about defending them from Russians. Dirty little secret.

@Ken_LoveTW What peace? Is she going to demand that the CCP lay down their arms and end their communist rebellion lol. Last I checked the KMT was a Chinese party, not a Taiwanese party. So she can stay there and try to "retake the Mainland."

Taiwan oppposition leader's “peace trip” to Beijing would be the most dangerous illusion of the year. Zheng Liwen is heading to Beijing waving the word “peace” like it’s a magic shield. Sounds noble, but peace built on surrender doesn’t protect you, it strips you. Just look at Hong Kong, where “peace” arrived right after freedom disappeared. Let’s be real about what’s happening here. Beijing isn’t inviting her for dialogue, they’re using her as a prop to tell Washington that Taiwan’s mainstream opinion supports unification. That narrative matters a lot ahead of a potential Trump–Xi meeting, and it’s exactly the kind of signal Beijing wants to amplify. There’s also the military angle people aren’t talking enough about. Taiwan’s defense budget is being blocked by the opposition in the KMT controlled legislative Yuan, and a weaker Taiwan makes Beijing’s invasion job easier. This visit adds pressure in the same direction. Taiwanese people want peace, but they don’t want to kneel for it and repeat the miserable fate of people in Hong Kong. Pretending neutrality between a democracy and an authoritarian regime sounds clever, but it sends a very wrong message. And history isn’t kind to that kind of mistake.
