I much enjoyed Carlin in my youth, and his. I continued to follow his career, watching his shows, listening to his albums, over a period spanning ~60 years. In his waning years he became quite bitter. He had made a viable career out of his sardonically expressed comedy that dripped with sarcasm. His constant, irreconcilable disenchantment with the world, though, left him a shell of an angry old man. I cannot say that this is a righteous outcome. It was very sad to watch in its inexorable path. That said, I do not disagree. His empathic sarcastic voice was a necessary and helpful counterbalance to a spirit-crushing, corrupt world. It was only sad that he himself could not find sufficient joy in this life to find some balance of his own. Requiescat in pace.
