My pitch for new TREK film. Don't flay me. - Far future, new enterprise, likable new diverse crew. - New Captain is history nerd (Trek lore nerd) who goes on holodeck camping trips with Captain Archer and asks him nerdy strategy stuff. - New alien threat seeks to erase ALL DIGITAL MEMORY, attacks federation data banks via virus in distress signals, wiping digitally stored history/science/language EVERYTHING. The federation is bricked. - The enterprise (testing an experimental shield) is the only ship to retain its data banks, becoming the lone shepherd of sacred knowledge - back to earth! - Captain, in need of guidance, boots up HOLODECK COUNCIL of Kirk, Picard, Janeway, Sisko (if he'd do it), Archer etc -- tastefully limited to comfy sitting down cameos. The simulated captains inspire, but cannot lead. "There's no history without the future, and only you can save both" or something thematically right but less first-drafty. - Under surveillance and attack, the Enterprise strategically hides their precious cargo of knowledge by feigning ignorance of proven tactical maneuvers (playing dumb). Could be funny?? The shield holds. - Crew return to earth as alien threat arrives. Using non-digital methods (sky writing, smoke signals, morse code phaser blasts etc) a multi-nation, multi-language but wholly human effort to defend earth is orchestrated by our crew. - The data banks are restored. History (and future) are saved. - New crew take a REAL camping trip as the Enterprise is dry docked for repairs, ready to draw from the past and boldly go forward together. - Film makes $26 million against a $200 million budget.
