Has not been much good news in the #NYR world since game 3 of ECF in 2024. Would be nice for things to turn for the better soon. Gut punch after gut punch it feels like as a fan

From the day Allaire came into organization, goaltending was never a problem again. Yes, Lundqvist/Shesterkin were big reasons, but he got the best out of them. He also made sure every backup they had was great too. We were spoiled having him & it sucks that he is gone. #NYR

@NYRChip23 Would love Lawrence as well. Def think he is going to pop off next year now that he got a taste of college. Wonder tho if they trade down a few spots then when you can grab him and get another pick or asset out of it

I really do think Lawrence at five could be the right move. Malhotra is getting a bump based on last name and playoff performance. And I’ll always take center over defense.

Tynan Lawrence is going to have a HUGE year next year. He is one of the youngest draftee this year and was the 2nd youngest in all of NCAA this year. Watch him get 1st Line Center next year and Caleb Malhotra gets Line 2 Center 😂 I won't be mad if #NYR draft him at 5th overall

What sucks even more is the 5th spot takes them away from obviously McKenna/Stenberg, but also likely Malholtra who would be a nice center add. Probably get a D like Carels/Reid maybe. In such a crucial draft for the franchise, you wanted to be top 2 or 3. #NYR

Just so fitting after such a miserable year, the lottery results for #NYR are miserable moving back 2 spots. Sucks more bc in both draws, they had a really good chance for that last ball. What a major downer heading into a crucial offseason

Felt like a long time coming. Hartford has been brutal last few years. With some important prospects coming in this year & in following years after this crucial draft, they had to start from scratch there with a fresh new staff. #NYR

@Almost_August I looked back, doesn’t appear Drury spoke at break up day, so was never asked prior to that. Guess we shall see

I know end of season media day quotes should be taken with a grain of salt but the way Drury spoke about Schneider, it really sounded like the plan is to extend him.

@LPirner Agree with that. I was thinking more in line with Schneider to get a young forward with top 6 upside or using their other first for example

@RealPJS I agree with this. I do think the Rangers have a lot of bottom sixers of the future. I just don’t want them to overpay for something because they don’t know what this team is.

Hot take: I agree with Drury here. They really don’t and shouldn’t upgrade the top 6. They need to let Lafreniere have a full independent season and let Perreault do his thing.
The reason the Rangers can’t develop is because they haven’t had top 6 openings for top 6 prospects.
Upgrading the top 6 at this point with an underwhelming UFA class would require some trade, which just might not be worth it for the #NYR at this moment.

Does Drury think they need to upgrade top 6? "We're always looking at tweaking and looking at ways to get more scoring... I think playing a team game that we did down the stretch and not relying on one person. Spreading out the scoring is always a good way to look at things, and we had some success that way down the stretch. But again, as far as scoring and looking at the top six, I do think we have a lot of really good players in the top six that got a lot more opportunity down the stretch and produced at a good rate, but it's always something that we're looking at and exploring as to what we can do to be better." #NYR

If the #NYR hold 3rd overall post lottery, and McKenna/Stenberg go, Drury has to pick Chase Reid.
High-end talent, 6'2, RHD, can skate and move the puck.
Plus, Drury and his cronies have a book on him already. Grew up in the USA hockey system and is committed to MSU next year.
