BREAKING: OUCH! Trump on attending his son’s wedding: “I have a thing called Iran.” It was the kind of simple question that a reporter might ask any father whose son was getting married this weekend. The answer, as is typical for Donald Trump these days, was anything but what was expected. Trump was asked today whether he plans to attend his son Don Jr.'s wedding this weekend. You’d think it’s the kind of question that isn’t even worth asking, since what father doesn’t attend his eldest son’s wedding, even if it’s not the first time around the altar for Don Jr. "He'd like me to go," Trump said of his own son. "I said, you know, this is not good timing for me. I have a thing called Iran and other things." A thing called Iran. His son's wedding is poorly timed because of the war Trump started. But it gets better. Rather than simply saying he'd try to make it work, Trump immediately reframed his son's wedding as a personal media trap. "That's one I can't win on," he said. "If I do attend, I get killed. If I don't attend, I get killed by the fake news." He then caught himself and added: "Of course I'm talking about—" before pivoting to describe Don Jr. as "a person who I've known for a long time" who will "hopefully have a great marriage." A person he's known for a long time. That person is his firstborn son. To summarize: Trump described his son's wedding as having bad timing, cast it as a no-win media situation for himself, referred to Don Jr. as someone he's merely known a while, and blamed Iran — a war his own administration started — for the scheduling conflict. This is the man who spent years branding himself as a devoted family patriarch. The man whose children have given up careers, marriages, and reputations in service of his political ambitions. Don Jr. has spent years as one of his father's most aggressive and loyal public defenders, amplifying every conspiracy theory, attacking every enemy, and standing by his father through four criminal indictments and two impeachments. His reward is a father who views attending his wedding primarily as a press management problem. JD Vance has spent months telling working Americans that Donald Trump fights for families. Apparently, that does not extend to his own (except when it comes to avoiding future prosecutions over tax fraud, which he extended to Don Jr. —and his other children — as a very special wedding present. "Hopefully they're going to have a great marriage," Trump concluded, about his son and his soon-to-be new bride, Bettina Anderson. Hopefully indeed. Although Don Jr.’s track record in terms of marital longevity, as well as that of his father, doesn’t bode particularly well. There’s no word at this point on whether Don Jr.’s former paramour, Kimberley Guilfoyle, will be jetting back for the ceremony from Greece, where she was appointed ambassador as a sort of consolation prize after being dumped by the presidential scion. Maybe Don Jr. should move the ceremony from the private island in the Bahamas, where it’s currently scheduled to take place, to one of his father’s golf courses if he wants to ensure his dad’s presence. After all, that’s where Donald Trump spends almost every weekend anyway, Iran war or not. Please like and share this post to celebrate the nuptials.

Imagine thinking that the people who smeared shit on the walls of the US Capitol and wanted to kill lawmakers deserve sympathy but the mom and nurse murdered in cold blood on the streets of Minneapolis in broad daylight by federal agents do not.
