@gingersnaphyde Abrams, Lile, and Wood are all LHH. Abrams hits are just going to die in right center field and he doesn't go oppo. Wood is the only profile that works at Fenway and his price is ???
Chapman is 5-53 in May. Depends $ but he needs to show upward trend. Good player still.

Think people are rightfully upset the Red Sox didn’t make more effort beyond one Zoom call to get Kyle Schwarber.
Unfortunately making that work would’ve required dealing with the existing OF/DH logjam and this CBO has shown over and over he’s not capable of doing that.

@MattLombo24 @jaketodonnell Between the 2022-23 offseasons, they could of had Schwarber, Seiya, and Guasman. Instead they walked away with Story, Yoshida, and 1 years James Paxton/Hill/Kluber. 2 of the top 3 players getting the most money are unplayable or an odd roster piece.

@MattLombo24 @jaketodonnell Didn't outbid 4/79 for Schwarber or Sieya for 5/85 but signed a 5/90 a year later for Yoshida. NPB has metrics they could have looked at to realize he wasn't an outfielder. Stop defending the Chaim front office. They have continually made the wrong choices now under Breslow.

He’s just a DH and it would’ve meant eating the 20M of JD and giving him $100+M which Henry isn’t doing

@JordanLeandre55 I think they did need to get some of the driveline guys in. Instead of Craig, I would have fired Bloom and Cora and tried Toboni or some other internal and not have the search be so public.
Dave can make a winner and he can draft okay but he wasn't the guy for the direction

I still think firing Bloom over Cora in 2023 was a bigger misstep than firing Dombrowski.
He's a gunslinger of a POBO -- nothing wrong with that -- but I didn't trust him to rebuild the farm at all and create a sustainable product. That 2019 team was mediocre.

@JordanLeandre55 What on earth are you talking about? That 2019 team was almost the entire 2018 team except for the BP. They missed the postseason because Cora told the team to take off Feb thru May and they dug a huge hole they couldn't get out of. Cora is the reason Henry went ballistic in 2019

Texted my friend who works in a high level position in a MLB front office to ask him if he had any insight into why Trevor Bauer isn’t getting any traction in the MLB again. This is his verbatim response, copied and pasted with permission:
“No interest in him for yrs. PR nightmare, players don’t want him around, control freak and a diva, wants special treatment. League minimum talk on X is a desperation play for clicks, eyeballs. Every scouting dept monitors NPB, MEX. Velo+spin down, control diminishing. Workout programs took backseat to YouTube career, shows on field. Doesn’t have the stuff to make a 40man, wouldn’t make our LowA roster. Would be shocked if he ever gets even a minor league deal again. Def won’t with us, friends in other offices say same.”

But, assuming none of those things happen, which they obviously wouldn’t, if you like what you see, you can promote me to AA and re evaluate me there. Then AAA. Then the big leagues. If I earn it, which you’d be 100% in control of deciding. If you don’t think I’m good enough, you lose $0 and there’s no risk to the big league club. You could take away my “antics”. You could take away my social media. You could ask anything of me. If I don’t comply, you cut me, lose $0, and there’s no risk to the big league club. What logical reason is there to not do this? At worst, you cut me and there’s no risk to the big league club. At best, you get a Cy Young winner for $0 who you know can still pitch and could help the big league team if and when you see fit.
