You all asked, and MaxQ gives! We were SUPER impressed with how accurate our weather PoV tool has been (out of 9 launches we had 7 within 5% probability) So we are releasing it to you! Head on over to old.maxq.app/weather and take a look. Reminder that this tool is still a work in progress, and will continue to calibrate itself and make adjustments to get more and more accurate. This tool is open to EVERYONE. We strongly recommend our friends in the Spaceflight Media Industry to use it and give feedback to help us dial it in more. If you have data, we want to use it to make the tool better for everyone!

@PetitionFranz @Echo5550 SpaceX announced that as a change with the V3 architecture, they probably wanted to spend less time fighting their horizontal speed

The hot-staging into boost-back during Flight 12 was pretty chaotic so I decided to try to simplify what occurred by looking at the visuals and the telemetry. This is my take and the engines that failed to light or shutoff could be wrong. I am open to corrections. Booster 19 had failed to light some of its engines at the start of its boost-back before experiencing an energetic event in the inner engines that knocked out surrounding engines. E5 or E6 may be the culprit as E7 eventually relit during the landing burn.

Not going to lie, it's rather annoying to see AI slop appear more and more on the spaceflight feed when it deserves no credit. Not only are the capsules and service modules completely wrong, but it also somehow mixed up the dates and placed Orion in the 1972 side. There are plenty of other creators in this community that should be getting support for their creations. Whether it be their photography, someone's KSP builds, or even a graphic drawn by someone, they are all ten times better than whatever the heck is below me. Make sure you support the fellow people in this community who work hard to bring you accurate information vs the slop!

From Apollo to Artemis — the evolution of deep-space exploration continues. NASA’s Apollo Command/Service Module (CSM) carried astronauts during Apollo missions from 1968 to 1975, supporting journeys to lunar orbit, Moon landings, and the historic Apollo–Soyuz Test Project. Today, NASA’s Orion spacecraft represents the next generation of human exploration — a modern deep-space vehicle developed for the Artemis Program, designed to carry astronauts farther than ever before on missions to the Moon and beyond.

@Cristi_Neagu @ArianeGroup I literally said Raptor 1, which is closer to Prometheus' current development stage, please read before complaining.

🚀 Not all rocket engines run at full power. Prometheus can adapt its thrust from 30% to 110%. (1/4)

@1524astrounit @ArianeGroup 100% is the rated flight performance on the engine, 110% is probably liftoff/landing performance where the rocket needs a tiny bit more performance but couldn't run that high for the whole flight

@ScienceGuy2718 @ArianeGroup Raptor 3 throttles 40 to 100%. As for complexity, it's raptor 3, look at raptor 1 and you'll see Prometheus is not that overly complex.

@ArianeGroup With the SpaceX V3 throttle like that, doesn’t it? And it’s 100 times less complex.

I was going to post something about the New Glenn 2nd stage being the largest (by starting propellant load) hydrolox stage put into orbit. But it isn’t, it’s only second largest. It’s also by my reckoning only the fourth largest to reach space. How many can you name?

@Eric3Gribble @Arianespace SRBs are only reliable if you're not Europe; they've been used on around 250 european launches and in the rare events of an issue with the rocket, it was never because of the SRBs

At Europe’s Spaceport in French Guiana, the payload fairing of Ariane 6 for mission VA268 has received its final visual identity. Logos and mission markings are carefully applied to the fairing, reflecting the partnership behind the launch and the mission it carries. (1/2)
