@ReardonColin

Studying how bugs talk to nerves, nerves talk to immune cells. not all at the same time. Can still do my own microscopy. 3D printing nerd.

For a few hundred dollars you can have a system for optogenetic without wire and easy plug. For a few hundred you can track a mouse for its whole life for a few thousand you can have a multi animal wireless optogenetic or DBS setup. This is what 2DNEURO is for.

The choice of whether to use Seurat or Scanpy for single-cell RNA-seq analysis typically comes down to a preference of R vs. Python. But do they produce the same results? In biorxiv.org/content/10.110… w/ @Josephmrich et al. we take a close look. The results are 👀 1/🧵

We tested it on a few other non-microglial cell types too… If you give it a try and it doesn’t work we’d love to know, if you love it that would be great to hear too!

In this manuscript we also show it works on some pretty large volumes (yes volumes) from light sheet data. So it’s open source, cross platform, and free. This collaboration between @UCD_APC in @ucdavisvetmed, Math, and Computer Science @ucdavis

Interested in microglia analysis from light microscopy data, but think the standard ways of segmentation are missing things? Online now is our manuscript where we created a new tool called PrestoCell at PlosONE journals.plos.org/plosone/articl…

The thread – & comments – are wild. “Poor air quality has retired pilots”…none that I’ve met “There has always been controversy about how cabin air is generated”…no, we understand it quite well “If the cockpit was as bad as the cabin, those pilots are impaired!”…no, we’re fine, but thanks “I thought CO2 was always going to be high on a flight because there is no fresh air being circulated”…there’s a lot of it, actually, or you’d be dead on the transcon “Another argument for a robust international rail system”…let me know how that works in the Atlantic “I bet the HEPA filters are blocked & not scrubbing the air”…that would be an immediately noticeable problem Once again, the CO2 sensors on airplanes stuff is completely worthless. The most likely explanation is that the instrument isn’t calibrated (31% humidity on an airplane is impossible) and that they’re measuring their own exhalation. Jets have been flying with these systems since the 60’s. If the CO2 was a problem putting pilots & flight crew to sleep – or if flight crews were getting covid at some higher rate (they aren’t) – we’d know. Stop posting this kind of crap. It’s worthless fear-mongering

Jfc @united, the air quality on this flight is horrifying and one, maybe two other people on this full flight of 170 people are wearing a mask. A reading like this means air is not circulating. CO2 itself at these levels are unhealthy, not to mention viruses being breathed out.
