100%. I give people guff when they say “defund all NGOs,” but the overseas aid budget is an area that needs increased scrutiny. From my own back-of-the-envelope calculations, more money appears to be flowing into that area than the entire local development sector. I’m not saying local development doesn't need scrutiny, but it is a useful benchmark for showing the scale and absurdity of the funding... more money going into overseas non-profits than local development and possibly social housing.
