The devolution budget allocation for @CityofBulawayo as reported on in yesterday’s Herald is entirely unfair. By way of comparison, Bulawayo this year will only receive ZIG $153 million, a mere 22% of the Zig $ 669 million Harare will receive and a mere 8% of what Mashonaland West Province will receive. Whilst of course Bulawayo has a smaller population than both Harare and Mashonaland West the disparity in funding remains glaringly imbalanced and unfair. I urge the Minister of Finance and Parliament to revisit these figures and adjust them.

There was only one omission- namely there was no mention of Glassblock Dam, first identified by our engineers way back in 1988, supported by @AfDB_Group at the African Investment Forum in Morocco in December 2024 but yet to take off because of bureaucratic delays in Government. We appeal to Government to sign the necessary authorities required so that we can get construction under way immediately.

In my experience Zanu PF branded vehicles often don’t have licences, are parked anywhere with impunity and don’t pay toll fees. All of this of course is unlawful. The tragedy for the country is that when the rule of law isn’t respected in the small things the same applies in the big things - such as foreign investment. No genuine investor, who will come in and set up factories & employ people - rather than just extract and export our mineral wealth- will ever consider investing in a country where the law only applies to some people but not others. If #Zimbabwe is to reach her true potential this has to change.
