You can use Unreal Engine's built-in particle system, Niagara, to add dirt, snow, and mud VFX to your Automotive CGI entirely in-engine. All of these are covered inside my upcoming course, Niagara Automotive. See more examples & join the waitlist: redefinefx.com/automotive/

@RedefineFX Honest question what is the idea of announcing a release? When people see it they will probably buy right then and there. If they have to wait they forget. You are selling teaching material not movies

Combining the Cinematic Car Rig with a Niagara fluids dust sim in real-time, so the truck suspension reacts to the terrain while Niagara emitters follow each wheel’s motion.

Real-time water VFX made with Niagara in Unreal. This uses my earlier particle advection setup to carry the particles with a smoke sim. Main challenge here was using multiple emitters (4 wheels) within one moving fluid sim grid.

Turned my airflow simulation into dynamic trails that wrap around any mesh & avoid obstacles in real-time. This is surprisingly hard to achieve any other way in Niagara.

@RedefineFX I've never seen any of these water sims work in local space. Has anyone attempted to make it so when you move the entity it behaves like a container?

You can now run real-time water simulations at this level of quality directly inside Unreal Engine 5.5 with the built-in Niagara Fluids. Learn my entire workflow for detailed water sims - link is below.

@KayVriend The smoke sim still needs to run but the volumetric rendering of it can be turned off so I guess in theory yes

@RedefineFX That looks stunning! Could you also use the sprites as a way to represent the smoke itself? (For VR specifically, since volume rendering didn’t work for VR rendering in UE last time I checked.)

Testing my advection setup with 500K Niagara GPU particles driven by a smoke sim in real time all inside Unreal Engine. Lots of different FX can be made with this technique.

Sand simulation in Unreal using Niagara GPU particles that take their velocity from the smoke sim to give it the swirling / spinning motion. All real-time. This will be covered in Niagara Automotive. I just opened the waitlist here: redefinefx.com/automotive/

For a while I've been working on a proper airflow/drag real-time simulation in Unreal. Here a Niagara smoke sim drives GPU particles colored by change in direction (irregular flow = more orange). Initially I colored them by speed, but that doesn't give you a true "drag" look (slow particles aren't always turbulent). Since Niagara doesn't give you a built-in "turbulence amount" parameter, this became an interesting challenge.

@RedefineFX It reminds me of those scifi movies where a soldier throws a sphere into a room, and it scans the space with beams, revealing a realtime 3D model on a tablet
