Such an important point. (And kudos to the whole @CheckSheriff Coalition for keeping the heat up on this issue.) Villanueva is not an outlier. We've had a string of bad sheriffs. He's just the most abrasive and the one mostly likely to say the quiet part out loud.

LA has a long history of abusive Sheriffs. From Jim McDonnell collaborating with ICE to terrorize families, to Lee Baca kidnapping an FBI informant to cover up LASD crimes. That's why I went to a @CheckSheriff rally to support Measure A, which will finally hold them accountable.
