Over the years, me and some friends have been able to track down and identify every 90s wallpaper pattern seen in the original Backrooms photo👀

Following concerns that A24 was overstepping their copyright boundaries with Backrooms, Kane Parsons would bring this to A24, to which he would come to the conclusion that these issues stemmed largely from a third party’s (not A24 themselves) system error & general poor timing.

Kane Parsons has commented on the recent A24 takedowns and terminations, stating that he is "heavily pressuring them" for answers as it there is an attempt to resolve the problem ASAP. According to Kane, A24 does not know what's happening. #backrooms #a24

Welp, this is it, A24 is now trying to copyright the backrooms. They’re taking down wallpaper designs from redbubble that were made ages before the film came out.

@hostkisser @Puggysdad It's more of a moral obligation, especially considering how big of a studio they are. It also follows the trend of them not crediting anyone in the community for their contributions. Also, if hundreds of people own the wallpaper, then I'd love to see it

@Puggysdad @RegularlyBlue3D This isnt a crime. You dont need to credit the person for sharing a piece of wallpaper they gave to you that they also didnt create. Unless there was an agreement beforehand about them doing that but it doesnt seem like there was. Hundreds of people own the wallpaper

Furthermore, here’s what Backrooms’ production designer said about the wallpaper pattern I supplied for the film. It is heavily implied that they found it themselves despite having only messaged me for information. They got literally every detail about the wallpaper incorrect.

Is A24 going to copyright the Chevron wallpaper? These pictures aren’t mine by the way. But I’m sure these designs do come from the Borden Home Wallcoverings. Which is the same wallpaper used in the 2002 furniture store that started the whole Backrooms thing.

The term "Backrooms" has been applied for a trademark by Gigant Films. It is unknown if Gigant Films is affiliated with A24, as a hired third-party or otherwise, but this is very concerning. The Backrooms does not belong to either of them. #backrooms #a24

@UselessShadow04 He has already said that he'd look into it, but I don't think mitigating the damage A24 has already done (or will continue to do) is going to be easy

This is insane. A24 is now taking down community content, covering up people's contributions, and even allegedly silencing people who speak out?? The Backrooms Online is a wonderful person and they've done so much for this community, I'm disgusted.

A24 just removed someone's self-made Backrooms wallpaper texture from being sold on RedBubble despite it predating the movie and not even being the pattern they used. It does not belong to A24, and neither does the traced texture used for the film. This is absurd #backrooms #a24

@leftysrevenge The only "distinct version" would've just been the traced version of my scan, like I said

@RegularlyBlue3D Thanks for all your efforts and sorry this is happening to you. Devil's advocate (even though this whole thing is awful): is it possible they created a distinct version of this pattern just for the film in order to protect themselves legally? Hence why A24 might be reacting here?

A24 also made Red bubble remove my backrooms stickers that I made (by hand) way before the movie even came out smh. Not even the same design as the original viral photo either

@RegularlyBlue3D The Chevron wallpaper was made predating A24 and predating Backrooms. That wallpaper was designed in 30s and 50s so copyright is a stretch and stupid. A24 didn't even exist. We didn't exist. So this romeval is stupid

@S1NGLEPALEROSE The problem is that it has nothing to do with them and existed before production on the movie even began

-kane's series/the movie is the only "legally protected" version of the backrooms (and not the original post), and are using that to take down anything they deem in violation of their rights at the copyright holder or w/e.

i'm thinking that while this is morally scummy, they may (unfortunately) be legally in the right because the concept of the backrooms as depicted in the original 4chan post wasn't copyrighted by the anon who posted it
