Creative flight is not the fastest way you can move in modern Minecraft. Even elytra mogs the fuck out of it, let alone things like a nether ice highway or a new sulfur cube "zipline".

"i miss the shadows and contrast of beta" ok and most people play modern minecraft with brightness on 100% and sometimes with full bright mods

@ghost_vana46 @CraftyMasterman I dare you to go on beta 1.8 and creative fly over one of these massive oceans, they're way too big. I like the idea of Continental but the ocean sizes definitely needed to be toned down a lot

@CraftyMasterman Everyone hated giant oceans because there was no way to effectively cross them, making it a slog, as the boats sucked. No reason to not re-implement them now.

on the left is vanilla dark souls 2 in forest of the fallen giants. on the right is how it looks after spending some time tonight on an unreleased (yet!) version of my second sin mod with pathtracing thanks to DS2LE PT. really trying hard to keep the original vibe
