Anyone who uses quickbooks knows its 95% the same as 25 years ago but prices gets raised by 5$ a month a few times a year. Its held on by inconvenience of changing to something else.... which only lasts for so long. Every time I see their monthly bill I think it should be cut by 90% +

> Don't be Intuit > Spend 20 years lobbying Congress so Americans can't file taxes for free > IRS Direct File finally dies, pop champagne, moat secured! > Perplexity drops an AI tax agent three weeks later that reads your W-2 for the price of a chatbot subscription > ChatGPT explains your 1099 better than the $209 "Deluxe" tier > Intuit response: open a physical TurboTax store in Soho! > Yes, a retail store...for tax software...in 2026 > Announce we'll pay for your Uber to come do taxes in person > CFO on earnings call: "customers buy confidence, not code" > Stock drops 20% during the call = most confident -20% you've ever seen > Five year low, congrats to everyone who bought the AI story at $700 > Strategy update: deliberately letting DIY customers leave > Translation: the ones who noticed "free" wasn't free > QuickBooks pivot: "usage-based pricing," aka the meter now runs while you cry > Mailchimp, purchased for $12B, currently held together with tape and apology emails > Flagship innovation: AI that finds deductions, then upsells you a human to check the AI > The human costs extra, the AI costs extra, the extra costs extra > Board response: raise prices, issue $1.75B in bonds, add "agentic" to every press release > Mention "AI" over 100 times during earnings call > Meanwhile, somewhere an accountant with a Claude subscription does your tax return in 15 minutes for $50

It's impossible to retire. Inflation outpaces interest rates and investment returns. If inflation is 8 to 10%, but your money earns 5%, you're losing money. But going down the risk curve for more yield is also risky. Using FIRE principles, you need MILLIONS to retire

@mahasr199 There is no "the bar". Some bars used in the US are 45 lbs. An Olympic bar is 20 kg. But there are heavier and lighter bars. You'd need one of the lighter ones to bench the equivalent of Tate's likely net worth.

Monte Carlo Casino 🇲🇨. My buddy Nick moved here 2 years ago and it took about 3 minutes to see why he isn't leaving. What a place.

The main draw of business class isn't the comfort, it's the exclusivity. Once it becomes normal, you quickly realize it's still just an uncomfortable seat that turns into an even more uncomfortable bed. My kids don't care much if we fly economy or business. Personally, I'm fine with Premium Economy for long haul (8-10 hrs) if there isn't a good deal on business. And domestic, I rarely upgrade anymore. Once the exclusivity fades, you realize it's mostly bullshit.

Tour De France stage 2 in Barcelona. Was obsessed with Le Tour as a kid and actually watched Lance Armstrong win a stage for his first time.

Europe is starting to ban A/C for 2 reasons: 1. To kill old people with heat stroke who use up all the tax dollars in socialized medicine. 2. To make everyone feel hot and miserable so the “global warming” scam feels more real and they can pass more tax increases. These globalist elites are truly evil.

It's possible that canadian real eatate prices outside of major cities or rare properties never rise again. Most of Europe is inexpensive outside the major international cities. Same in Japan. South America. And even the USA. Canada is the only place I've seen where real estate prices are rediculous high in nothingtown. Why would Canada not follow?

@BillAckman Invest 😆. They print the 300B out of thin air and it disappears into the wind just as quickly. It then reappears mystically in various different places like 30M networths for government officials that make 200K per year.

I don’t understand who is going to invest in a $300 billion reconstruction fund for Iran. The U.S. is not doing so, and why would the Qataris or any other country in the Middle East that was just attacked by Iran invest one penny to support Iran’s reconstruction? Most of the damage inflicted on Iran was directed to military targets. Why would anyone want to help Iran rebuild its military capabilities? Even if the funds were limited to humanitarian-related infrastructure, if there is such a thing, money is fungible, and we know the first freed up dollar will go to rebuild Iran’s ballistic and nuclear capabilities. What am I missing?
