The Trump Administration is threatening to deny lifesaving assistance to 1.3 million people with H.I.V. in Zambia if it does not grant the U.S. rights to exploit their natural resources. Instead of building on the success of a two-decade-old bipartisan agreement, PEPFAR, and working in partnership with Zambia to combat corruption to allow tax revenue to support the health care system, the House Foreign Affairs GOP backs this immoral shake down. This is beneath basic humanitarian values and real people’s lives are on the line.

colleagues demanding answers from @SecRubio for the administration’s failure to protect Americans in the Middle East prior to President Trump’s unilateral decision to begin a war. Reminder, he didn't consult allies or Congress before plunging the world into chaos from this reckless war, but he also didn't do the bare minimum of coordinating the safety and security of Americans in harm's way as a result of his actions.

The antisemitic attack on Temple Israel in West Bloomfield, Michigan yesterday is heartbreaking and I pray for all those affected by this trauma. Thanks to the fast-acting security on site, further tragedy was prevented.

Some of the frivolous September purchases made under Secretary Pete Hegseth’s stewardship include a $98,329 Steinway & Sons grand piano for the Air Force chief of staff’s home, $5.3 million for Apple devices such as the new iPad, and an astronomical amount of shellfish, including $2 million for Alaskan king crab and $6.9 million worth of lobster tail. (Lobster tail is apparently a favorite of Hegseth’s Pentagon—the department spent more than $7.4 million total on the luxury item in March, May, June, and October.) In other pricey food purchases, the government decided to drop $15.1 million for ribeye steak (again, just in September), $124,000 for ice cream machines, and $139,224 on 272 orders of doughnuts.

Yesterday was #InternationalWomensDay, and last week marked 10 years since Indigenous and environmental rights defender, Berta Cáceres, was assassinated. A decade later, her legacy continues to inspire movements for justice and environmental protection across the Americas. Yet the fight for accountability for her murder remains unfinished.
Earlier this year, the #GIEIHonduras report concluded that Berta's killing was the result of a carefully planned criminal operation involving hired assassins, intermediaries with military ties, and actors connected to the company behind the Agua Zarca project, enabled by networks of tolerance and omission within sectors of the State.
To this day, justice for Berta remains incomplete. I urge the Government of Honduras to fully implement the recommendations of the GIEl and to pursue accountability for all actors who participated in or enabled her assassination.

I voted YES on the War Powers Resolution because Congress cannot relinquish it's constitutional duty, the Trump administration shouldn't get a blank check for another endless war, and our troops, our constituents, and our country deserve better.
