Americans deserve confidence in their democracy, which is why it’s so important to hold bad actors accountable for exploiting public office for personal gain. Today I co-chaired the inaugural Anti-Corruption & Democracy Reform Task Force meeting along with @RepNikema, @RepJoeMorelle, & @repdeliaramirez to hear from experts on how to weed out corruption across every branch of government.

Nancy Magee was an inspirational leader who left a proudly positive impact on generations of students across San Mateo County and beyond. I am deeply saddened to hear of her passing. She embodied grace, class and strength during her battle with cancer. Nancy spent nearly two decades in the classroom before sharing her incredible insights and strategic leadership as San Mateo County’s Superintendent of Schools. My late father, a 33-year civics teacher and former chair of the Assembly’s Education Committee, was also a proud admirer of her leadership. She championed school safety and improved gun safety protocols, expanded mental health services for youth, advanced childhood literacy amongst our most vulnerable, and supported countless students while helping to set them up for lifelong success. Nancy gave so much to her community, and I am forever grateful for the time we had with her and I know her positive contributions will live on.

I join @RepNikkiB & @RepChrisPappas in demanding Trump rescind his executive order restricting vote-by-mail. Not only is implementation totally infeasible, but this is another a corrupt power grab by the president to nationalize elections. I led the pilot for California’s first all-mail ballot election and nearly 1/3 of citizens across America now vote by mail because it's safe, secure and increases participation across all demographics. We must defend the independence of the Postal Service and stand with local elections workers who help protect the free and fair elections that are the cornerstone of our democracy.

When I questioned Energy Secretary Wright he ADMITTED Trump knew his reckless war on Iran would raise gas prices for working families. High costs are predicted to continue through 2027, and Republicans are refusing to stop Trump and his unpopular war that's draining millions of dollars from American taxpayers.

San Francisco recently marked the 120th anniversary of the devastating 1906 earthquake, and it’s a reminder how quickly communities can be disrupted and why preparedness matters before disaster strikes. I introduced the Earthquake Resilience Act because we need a national earthquake risk assessment, and to strengthen critical lifeline infrastructure like power, water, and communications systems. We’ve come a long way since 1906, but we still need to do more so infrastructure can withstand disasters and communities can recover quickly. axios.com/newsletters/ax…

Enjoyed welcoming representatives from the @49ers to my DC office last week—2026 is an exciting year for sports in the region, as we prepare to host World Cup matches this summer following a successful Bay Area Super Bowl.

To kick off Earth Week, I recently sat down with San Mateo County high school students from Citizens Climate Lobby for their new podcast. I was incredibly impressed by their thoughtfulness and urgency on environmental issues. They asked important questions from clean energy to carbon pricing, and showed exactly why youth voices are so critical in this fight.
