@nateliason As an engineer, I have one rule, put your money where you think you could build cool shit around it.

Two years ago I created this video to help show quickly and simply how Bitcoin is a powerful human rights tool BTC was only trading around $9k at the time, but everything explained here is still just as relevant at $20k 😉

Trillions were printed and people saw the value of a finite supply currency that can't be debased by anyone. Censorship was conducted and people saw the value of a censorship-resistant currency. Confiscation was pursued and people saw the value of a seizure-resistant currency.

Tools are not intrinsically neutral. If I ask you what a hammer or mustard gas does it has a clear answer. If I ask what a crypto token *does* I get one of four very non-neutral use cases: 1. Gambling 2. Regulatory arbitrage 3. Libertarian politics 4. Incoherent technobabble

Should have noted *been stolen from opensea customers, not opensea itself via phishing* And looks like the attack is closer to $3-4M (from @Dogetoshi)

I’m hearing that over $200M worth of NFTs have been stolen from OpenSea via an email phishing hack. Wow.

If Ukraine just put itself on the blockchain as an NFT, then there’s no way Russia can take it.

@cpaik It comes down to utility in game as first obvious usecase. I would absolutely have paid for land/house right near the dock in Freeport simply for the flex of a private space I could "bank" things conveniently as I wait for the boat to arrive. #Everquest

Real estate in the metaverse will not be a thing. Real estate is valuable because there is a non-zero cost to move from point A to point B in the real world. There is no such cost in a digital world, negating all value of the analogous concept.

@zhusu The thing is, is that that example he gave was PART of misinformation. There was never a claim that you could not get covid. Only reduces the chance of symptomatic covid. I’m really not sure what his point was. We know that vaccines largely prevent hospitalization and death.

His point about how alleged misinformation was suppressed and, with time, emerged as the truth (or at least as entirely reasonable) is utterly unanswerable and should create a profound sense of modesty among the cancellers, if they are capable of regret or reflection

OpenSea is too cheap to run their own Ethereum node as well, so they outsource that to Infura, who in turn is too cheap to own their own hardware, so they outsource that to Amazon. Centralization inception. Just lol.

14/ In short, the Fed is laying the case for the end of privacy in public money, and the introduction of a programmable tool which empowers the state at the expense of the private sector, and serves as an excuse for increased inflation. Thank god for Bitcoin.
