@michelletandler @ShellenbergerMD Their are several fundamental issues facing SF in regards to Public Health/Safety. The first of which is the barrier to entry for services/harm reduction. SF subsidizes drug use which attracts a high number of people looking for the drug scene.

@mattdorsey I hope at some point you realize no matter what kind of housing you give people for free, the incentives to come to San Francisco for services and cheap drugs are still there. You may be helping a few people on the micro level, but you're killing the city at the macro level.

San Francisco isn’t alone in evolving beyond harm-reduction fundamentalism in our public health response to the drug crisis. Australia, too, now finds that “Abstinence‑Based Prevention, Regulation, and Recovery” is the most effective response to drug addiction at the population‑level. @96hoya @DanWheeler4SF @grok Yes, both of their policies are horrible, but he is competent. He could be in that seat for 30 years and do untold damage. She will probably do a term or two, and hopefully we can get somebody better in after her.

Prop 36 and its directive to crack down on crime, especially fentanyl, was the only thing that voters demanded via supermajority in the last 10 years. Yet is is the one thing that Senator Scott Wiener and the California legislature will NOT fund.

@scottlincicome Seriously, do you think tariffs cost small businesses more than the crazy regulations and taxes, especially in a state like California?

@ConnectedSF It is the struggle but the incentive is high. Supportive housing with ballot harvesting is a ready-made political base.

@ResponderSF Agreed. If we could go that far with it, that’d be a win-win. Though these are the current battles we have to fight the progressives and socialists on. That’s why engaging and getting involved is important. The far left will not back down.

Why is Jordan against sober housing? Because Jordan does drugs in the taxpayer funded @THClinicSF where Jordan lives — even brags about it on social media. This carpetbagger moved to San Francisco to get “a free c*nt” (Jordan’s words) and free housing. @DanielLurie @kunalmodi
bettersoma@bettersoma

I thought commentary wasn’t to include direct attacks on individual people @mattdorsey this is disgusting and so dumb already. Enough.

@SusanDReynolds @THClinicSF @DanielLurie @kunalmodi Jordan admits to smoking Crack in her supportive housing. She's mad because under these proposed rules, Jordan would be in trouble for smoking Crack in housing paid for by San Franciscans tax dollars. 🤷‍♂️

@ResponderSF @David_J_Bier I know people who became citizens after Reagan’s deal, followed all rules, took English, got SS card and paid and became a citizen during that amnesty. Had to prove they had been here awhile.

@David_J_Bier Interesting article. People in similar situations are in a tough spot. If the government would have upheld their bargain 86, Stopping illegal immigration, these situations would be easy. Legal immigration should be easier. Illegal immigration should be impossible.

Also, Republicans don't hide who they are. They never have. You know what you're gonna get. That doesn't mean I'm Republican, it just means I can see clearly now.

And people keep asking why I'm so critical of Dems and not Republicans? It's because I'm a lifelong Democrat and, I've watched their policies destroy west coast cities with NIMBYism, decriminalization and taxes.

Very justified shooting. There's no reason this shooting needed 14 months(!) to ponder before closing the case. Likely no new information was presented or analyzed after day 2. One week should have been the end of it. It's not fair the cop. Again we see process as punishment.
CWBChicago@CWBChicago

The off-duty cop warned him: She’d kill him if he tried to take his gun. He tried anyway. She killed him. Now, COPA has cleared her, too. cwbchicago.com/2026/07/copa-c…

@Twolfrecovery @garrytan Convert all of the “social” housing back to market rate and most problems go away. Recovery housing should be far away from the City.

What the Socialists fail to understand is that the only game in town economically is tech. If we kick them out, then the money San Francisco spends subsidizing this person's housing dries up and he'll be homeless again. @garrytan

Your reminder that Trump's tariffs are far more analogous to King George's and The English Parliament's policies than that of Colonial America...
