'We shouldn't put that at risk by plunging the country into chaos' Chancellor Rachel Reeves exclusively told #BBCBreakfast a Labour leadership challenge from Health Secretary Wes Streeting against Keir Starmer could hurt the economy, which grew by 0.6% in the first quarter of 2026 bbc.co.uk/news/live/cwy2…

@Peston In all this 'why did it happen'. Has anyone asked why women didnt vote Labour. Women are fed up with their dithering on womens single sex spaces and WASPI women feeling betrayed. I know I didnt vote for labour and many others did so too.

I am on my way to hear Keir Starmer try to save his job by saying - according to an overnight briefing that - “to meet the challenges that our country faces incremental change won't cut it.” The briefing also says Starmer will also “set out the next steps in his plan to build a stronger and fairer Britain in the coming days and weeks.” So the end of “incremental change” will come in “steps.”

.@CatherineWest1 will be smeared. She will be blanked. Whips will be instructed to make a concerted effort to make her feel as uncomfortable as they possibly can. They’ll block her from groups. They’ll give her filthy glances. They’ll speak about her.

@LozLawrence A part of me did want Burns or Bowden to keep their seat so they had to sit in the chamber and realise the death of St Helens Labour was of their own doing.

These grinners were St Helens Labour Cabinet. When you lose 44 seats from 46. Don't blame Starmer or the electorate. Look at yourselves. Your ignorance, arrogance and greed has been running through your systems for 20 years. When good people turn, its for a reason. No more gravy.

Had a chat with outgoing council leader Anthony Burns after his defeat. He said he was “gutted” and Reform UK had ran on a “Get Starmer Out not Get Ant Out” message. He described Labour’s performance as a “tough one to take.”

The support for @reformparty_uk in East Hull is dropping off a bit. They don’t trust Farage. There isn’t any overwhelming love for Farage. We @UKLabour can win back trust. Vote Labour. 🌹

Absolutely shit load of tickets available still for tonight’s game. Few of the lads want to go but haven’t got a membership. Willing to pay the money but the club want a membership. Something not right there. Rather have empty seats than them filled. What a fucking joke

Yesterday, I questioned the Safeguarding Minister Jess Phillips and Home Office officials on the national grooming gangs inquiry. I focused on three key questions: 1. Why did the Home Office fail to instruct agencies across the country to preserve grooming gang records? 2. Why has the Government already announced Oldham as a key location for the Inquiry - but not Keighley and Bradford? 3. How much funding is being used for the inquiry - and is it is enough? I will continue to do all I can to demand a specific focus on Keighley and Bradford - and hold the government to account on their promises to victims and survivors across the UK. You can watch my questions below 👇

I believe the dismissal of Sir Olly Robbins was wrong, and that he should be reinstated. However this IS NOT a matter for the Committee of Privileges to investigate. Regarding the Privileges vote today, which is a motion relating only to the possible misleading of the House, I do not believe the Prime Minister currently has a clear case to answer. The Foreign Affairs Committee, of which I am member, is investigating the appointment of Peter Mandelson. And the release of information from the humble address continues as will its scrutiny.

Emily Thornberry at the Foreign Affairs Committee knows Morgan McSweeney is a slimy little weasel, but doesn't let it faze her. She goes straight for his throat then starts ripping his arse a good 'un on the dodgy as fuck Peter Mandelson affair. Watch as the colour starts to drain from his once smug face. He then claims if Kamala Harris had won the U.S. election, Mandelson wouldn't have got the job..... Remarkable It is worth watching every second as it gets worse. Even Angela Rayner gets a mention. NEW: Downing Street has published the letter that Chris Wormald, then cabinet secretary, sent to Keir Starmer in September about process followed for Peter Mandelson appointment. “The evidence I have reviewed leads me to conclude that *appropriate processes were followed* in both the appointment and withdrawal of the former HMA Washington,” he writes. PM’s aides will be hoping this lays to bed claims he knowingly misled Parliament when he said “due process” had been followed - and which will be debated by MPs tomorrow when they consider whether to refer him to privileges committee.

So instead of taking a beat to consider whether their actions were lawful and proportionate, Scope have chosen to issue a public statement about me on their website. Which feels as though they are doubling down - and singling me out further. Suffice to say, I have taken legal advice and am well supported on that front. It’s worth noting that they appear to be leaning on the “Bananarama argument” - i.e. it’s not what you say, it’s how you say it - implying that the issue is the way I have expressed my lawfully held gender critical views. Those who follow me online will know that I am generally very measured in the way I express my views. However, even if I weren’t, reality is reality. Which means there is no “nice” way to say that a man who claims to be female is a man - and therefore shouldn't be in women's spaces and sports. Other than simply saying it. So the problem is not how you say it - it’s the fact you’re saying it at all.

Greggs axes front-of-store food and drink fridges in drastic new crackdown on shoplifting The bakery chain has removed self-service fridges from several branches and moved all sandwiches, bottled drinks and other items behind theft-proof counters. Staff will now hand every product to customers instead of allowing open access. Only sugar, napkins and coffee stirrers can still be taken without asking. The pilot scheme is running in stores including West Croydon, Peckham, Whitechapel, Upton Park, Birmingham and Wilford in Nottinghamshire. Greggs says the measure is needed to tackle the rising shoplifting epidemic and protect staff from anti-social behaviour and violent incidents.

Cocaine and cannabis sold openly in high street mini marts. Prescription drugs handed over without question. And when the @BBC went back to confront the dealers, Pitbull dogs blocked the door. This is organised crime operating in plain sight, and it needs zero tolerance, new enforcement powers, and action now. Great work by the BBC's @EdThomasNews and team. Guy on speakerphone in coffee shop — for 10 minutes. Another guy (not me) politely asks him to use headphones or hold phone to his ear. Guy refuses. And acts like he has been deeply insulted. What happened to manners? Or basic politeness?
