@JerryTurin @allgarbled When I was working two full time jobs and still having to live in my car because rent was so high, I went to DPSS in Riverside. They capped me at $18/mo. for food whilst the woman next to me who answered “Mexico” to every question got full benefits, including an apartment.

Seems to me that you can be poor in Cali, lots of programs and support, and obviously a substantial number of Hispanic immigrants in that category make a go of it just fine, subject to their lower expectations though. Seems to me the issue is the next rung up, of people without those low expectations & humble roots, yet without skilled training in trades or college education or similar.

You used to be able to be poor and Californian. Now they don’t allow that anymore.

@lalovestrump I learned how to speak and write in Spanish fluently for this very reason, only to be told by Hispanics that I didn’t have the right to speak Spanish and I was threatening to them because I’m White. Especially true with any pocho female middle manager I’ve ever had to deal with.

@LVPROSPORTS The Las Vegas Blast. A nod to Las Vegas’ nuclear age with a modern flair. The LAS in the name BLAST can be highlighted within the logo and be inspiration for “City Edition” merchandise. A fan section for die hards called the Fallout Zone would be a nice touch, too.
