@davidsenra Borderline hyperbole. Better than Macaroni Grill? Yessir. In the league of French Laundry or Enoteca Pinchiorri? Ah, no.

Restaurateur Jeff Zalaznick reveals the biggest reason why restaurants fail: “The biggest reason why restaurants don't work out is because there's always been this classic tension between the restaurateur and the chef.” “It's been happening throughout history.” “The chef wants to make this food, the restaurateur wants to make more money, they're fighting all the time about these things, and then eventually they break up.” “I watched that happen a lot of times.” “I also realized that the best partnerships were when restaurateurs and great chefs were partners. That was still somewhat of a novel idea.” “So from day one I was looking for who I’m going to be partners with.” “I'm not going to hire a chef. I'm going to look for people that have the same ambitions that I have but most importantly that can make the most incredible food in the world.”

Jeff Zalaznick is co-founder of Major Food Group — the company behind Carbone, ZZ's, Torrisi, The Grill, The Pool, and dozens of the best restaurants in the world. He's started 77 restaurants and bars, and 76 are still open and profitable. We recorded this inside The Pool, one of the most historic restaurants in America. Jeff has been obsessed with restaurants since he was a kid, and that obsession runs through everything he's built. 0:00 Seventy-Seven Restaurants, Seventy-Six Still Winning 3:16 The First American Menu Written In English 4:14 JFK's Cream Of Asparagus 9:49 Fifty Years Of Smoke, Forty Million To Restore 13:42 One Text: "Four Seasons?" 16:17 Always Bet On Who Wants It Most 19:13 Kill Lunch To Own Dinner 24:00 The Only Thing That Matters Is If They Come Back 29:37 Going Viral Isn't The Same As Being Good 36:36 Watching Cooking Shows Instead Of Cartoons 41:47 The Men At The Top Were Miserable 43:21 Walking Into The Mandarin To Beg For Any Job 49:40 A Front-Row Seat To His Hero 53:06 Belief Comes Before Ability 55:35 Burning The Boats 57:31 Marry The Chef, Don't Hire Him 59:25 The Best Version Of Something You Already Love 1:03:56 The Hail Mary Call At Ten O'Clock 1:08:29 "A Piacere" — Whatever You Want 1:13:24 The Broken Neon Sign That Became An Icon 1:18:17 Go With Whatever Feels Natural 1:22:27 A Ten-Dollar Jar Of The Restaurant 1:24:15 Your Mediocrity Is My Opportunity 1:27:34 Netflix With A Restaurant 1:32:11 The Club Where The Food Comes First 1:37:07 Miami Was New Year's Eve Every Night 1:40:45 Carbone Miami In 100 Days 1:46:08 The Greatest Beach Club In America Includes paid partnerships.

"We replaced Salesforce with a vibe-coded CRM built for our own workflows. The custom system integrated our AI agents more effectively, worked better for the team, and made Salesforce unnecessary. That decision cut a $600,000 annual software bill to zero." Is this an anomaly or the start of a much larger trend @chamath @Avishai_ab @jasonlk @benioff

Last night’s attack was one of the largest Russian ballistic missile attacks to date. Kyiv and the Kyiv region were the Russians’ primary target. They had been preparing this attack for several days, stockpiling missiles. The threat, of course, remains even now, and this must be taken into account. Russia is placing its wagers on ballistic missiles, and it is because of them that Putin still believes in his war. It is very important that our partners understand what is happening and that air defense missiles are needed to protect lives literally every single day. It is important to accelerate everything – both with our European partners and with the United States.

I'm confused. The USA has the most powerful military on Earth. We've bombed the HELL out of Iran for 4 months. Trump says their Air Force, Navy, and nearly all of their missile capabilities are destroyed. ...so how is Iran still capable of hitting US bases right now???

VulcanBench is designed to be realistic, multi-file software engineering tasks and Grok 4.5 is just perfect for that! I tested Kimi K3, but I fear my StarBlink can have an impact on these results.

Putin Last night Donald Trump released a declassified document that says his own intelligence community identified Putin as personally running an operation to defeat my father in 2020, built around a fake Burisma corruption scandal centered around me and executed through prominent Americans. Trump tasked his personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, to fly to Kyiv and meet a known Russian agent. The Americans who ran, laundered, and legitimized the operation: Donald Trump. Rudy Giuliani. John Solomon. Joe DiGenova. Victoria Toensing. Lev Parnas. Igor Fruman. Chanel Rion. Sean Hannity. Steve Bannon. Miranda Devine. Ken Vogel. Ron Johnson. Chuck Grassley. James Comer. Jim Jordan. To name a few. An operation formally sanctioned by Trump's own Treasury Department on September 10, 2020, and expanded to include more named actors on January 11, 2021. Oh, and don't forget the Russian-linked FBI informant Alexander Smirnov, who later pleaded guilty to making the entire Burisma bribery story up. The record exists and we have all the receipts, and more.

Right now it feels like the single biggest competitive advantage an AI lab could have is making it abundantly clear whether and how they will train models on your data I pay pretty close attention to this and I couldn't confidently summarize the policies for ANY of the lead labs

"Early in the rollout of the technology, employees also faced restrictions on using Gemini to write or analyze software over concerns that proprietary code could leak into the AI model’s training data, they said." ... concerns about their OWN code being trained on?
Davey Alba@daveyalba

New: Google is months behind schedule on delivering Gemini 3.5 Pro. Late last month, the company updated the data being used to train Gemini to improve its skills—they're especially behind in AI coding—but the results were "disappointing," a source told us. w/ @byJuliaLove

EE is a POS! He thinks he’s smarter than everyone, he will say anything to try and appear “neutral” in case the tide shifts and he can swing the other way on his views. Trump has done a lot to drain the swamp but it doesn’t happen overnight. Profiting you say? The entire country is profiting with the record high stock market. He’s rich, doesn’t take a salary, and is paying for a lot of projects with his own $. Why don’t you provide specific examples of his “profiting”? Stocks? His kids were already rich and doing business before he took office too. The Biden crime family will eventually be exposed. But why waste resources doing so? Hunter has his pardon. There’s a lot of moving parts in this administration and I feel they are working hard behind the scenes but I think they’ve had to pivot several times based on other/new information. You can’t stand it that Trump is having success in some areas. You want him to fail more than you want our country to prosper. You forget that us voters elected him. Maybe instead of being so jealous of him, you could pray without ceasing for his success while he is in office. I could almost guarantee that if the rogue judges didn’t stop every thing he tries to do, we would see a lot more progress.

For the better part of a decade, Republicans built a movement on two promises. The first was to “drain the swamp” — Donald Trump’s 2016 vow, hashtagged 79 times in the campaign’s final three weeks, to end the culture of self-dealing in Washington. The second was to expose the “Biden Crime Family,” the label House Republicans attached to their multi-year investigation of Hunter and James Biden’s foreign business. That probe established that Biden relatives received more than $10 million from foreign sources — but never produced evidence tying the payments to an official act by Joe Biden. Set that standard next to the conduct now documented in the administration’s own financial disclosures and in the pages of major global media outlets, and a troubling pattern emerges. The people who promised to drain the swamp are cashing in. ewerickson.substack.com/p/drain-the-sw…

@gideonstorytllr @stephaniemlee Yeah and who gets to decide what the scientific method looks like as society advances? Embodied and relational knowledge are routinely dismissed in acad history, for ex. Foucault and others all said truth/the methods are subjected to power. We know what the powerful look/ed like.
