Lots of great brands in the non-alcoholic beverage movement these days! But where are the social spaces, the bars, to imbibe without the pressure? We're working on it. But here's an early article via @DryAtlas dryatlas.com/articles/rebra…

@LeadingReport Interesting. While some would attribute this to people becoming more health-conscious, this is probably more related to declining social skills and people going out less frequently. Maybe throw in finances as well.

@tomhinestweets @BarryRoland19 We had an issue with verbal agreements, too, local firefighters moonlighting as contractors (aka "trusted"). They quoted $5k then demanded $2500 more and threatened a lien. My fault for not having it in writing but, if we didn't sell the house, they'd never get paid. Lame

@BarryRoland19 The same job will cost you 7k if you hire a guy who’s willing to put the agreement in writing. It’s weird to me that these verbal agreement guys hate to sign their name but are always so eager to threaten a lien. A lien should feel like the worst kinda homework to them.

A few years ago, I hired some guy on Yelp to help retile a unit’s bathroom tub surround. We verbally agreed on a $1k deposit, and the rest after the work was done in a few days. $3500 total. After day 1, he asked for half the balance. “Sent.” During the middle of day 2, he asked for another 50% of the balance. I didn’t respond. He called me over and over, and then left a message saying he was going to “file mechanics liens” on my property. I was triggered. “Listen to me you fuck. I’m a lawyer, my wife is a lawyer, all my friends are lawyers, I will bury you if you fuck around. I’ll report you to the BBB, to the CSLB, I’ll write 1 star reviews for you everywhere. I will make it my life’s work to destroy you, your family, and your descendants. Stop playing stupid games and just finish the work, you know I’m going to pay you when you’re done.” “Should I say this to him?” I asked my wife “How much does he want?” “Idk, $600-700, but it’s the principle. He’s just being annoying and these aren’t the terms we agreed to. He’s not done!” “Shut the fuck up and just Zelle him.”

Still learning to walk independently but my stride is progressing. Another 1% better towards my goal of walking independently without help or gear. Exciting year ahead for me pushing to get my full independent walking function back and stacking sats along the way.

Pretty decent rain barrel mockup from @grok just now! Old branded image of a rain barrel I made combined with a rain garden I installed, set in N. Michigan.

@theryandreyer Absolutely agree. Did my first race since my kids were born and it was a 5k, too. Pretty sure it inspired my daughter to run track, actually. Not sure if a long race where she couldn't see her dad run/finish would've done the same?

The mistake most dads make with endurance sports: Thinking it only counts if it's long. So when the 70.3 doesn't fit the schedule, they stop racing altogether. And they lose the edge. The aliveness that comes from having something to train for. I just signed up for my first race since my daughter was born: a local 5k. Never actually raced one. It's going to hurt different than any Ironman I've done. Short races. Local races. They still count. The race doesn't have to be big to matter.

So my dad got a @GuinnessIreland 0.0 and had never had Guinness in cans before, asking what the rattling sound was. He cut it open and look how big it is! It always sounded smaller to me. Free beer pong ball in each can!

When McFarlane designed Spawn he exaggerated the design of the cape using his knowledge of graphics design. It of course moved and twisted unrealistically, but realism is not the point, it's spectacle. For the 1997 movie version they tried and succeeded at capturing it, sacrificing the unnecessary realism

@DanReese21 Wow. I was there when I was 20, hiked many in the area but mostly 11k/12k footers. Crazy how you can be fooled by weather in the parking lot!

Had a quote scheduled today between 8-8:30. I always give customers an arrival window. I arrived at 8:13. Customer had already got tired of waiting and left. The husband answered the door and wasn’t exactly a ray of sunshine but asked me to reschedule. I’m going to let them be someone else’s problem.

@GuruAnaerobic Sounds like a lad who runs for my old high school, in fact. He blasted a 4:11 indoor mile back in December as a tune-up. He's a junior. The name Bobby Jazwinski might be known in a few years.

This is why the “grit” porn you see in endurance sports (or anything for that matter) is so performative. None of those guys ever last. You can do it for a bit but long term you’ve just gotta see it as something you do and love. “Real Gs move in silence…” as a famous philosopher once said.

One key differentiator for elite performers? They don’t see it as a sacrifice. Going to bed early, skipping the party, putting in hours of practice... That’s not giving something up. It’s living in alignment with what they care about most.

What's the story of your VERY FIRST time in your team's home stadium? The atmosphere, the game, the feels? Mine was 1999 Michigan vs Illinois. Brutal cold/wind/rain at Michigan Stadium. Just me and my dad. Unforgettable (even if we lost)

Bringing my 10 year old to deer camp this week. Planned on bringing beer. My dad says most there don’t drink. Aside from my son, I’ll be the youngest by 20 years. Folks, this isn’t Gen Z not drinking; it’s bigger than that.
