@AnorexiaMyths My daughter LOVED food, cooking, chatting with her Dad about food. All those memories she says have pretty much been erased it has been so long since she has been able to eat beyond her very limited range of 'allowed' foods. So sad.
Some thoughts: most people with AN were able to eat normally before the illness. Their brains should really remember that food isn’t scary. So, is AN a memory problem?
Memory if definitely affected and not talked about enough imo.
@AnorexiaMyths My daughter recalls in detail the horrificness of it, the trauma of witnessing patients & carers being hurt at inpatient and she was only 13 /14. And yet today, she is on the verge of (possibly forced) readmission because no matter how traumatic she cannot overcome the illness.
Can we talk about memory?
We know that starvation affects memory. How does this work in AN?
Because it seems to me that the person who had the illness often recalls very little about how devastating it was while the family is left to carry the awful memories.
Thoughts?
YP needs intensive support to weight restore following relapse. Spent 7 months in an ED unit 3 years ago far from home. Option is to go to same unit which was traumatic. No other beds available. Community saying no more support. Ideas? #anorexia#eatingdisorders#mentalhealth
This may be an opportune moment to repost this.

@drchuks_@CaraLisette Also, just to add that it’s absolutely normal for parents to feel ‘extremely anxious’ when we are watching our child starve to death.
This is normal, normal, normal. And I can’t emphasise that enough.
@Chescamarina Hi, wld this be suitable reading for me as a parent, ahead of my daughter starting CBT-E(waiting to be able to start). Thanks and best of luck
Friday study 📚 I absolutely am loving training as a CBT-E therapist 😊💜
I can’t wait to begin working with my patients next week, who have been kind enough to work with me as a trainee. As a trainee, I’m going to work so hard to help you recover ❤️🩹
@MayorofLondon Thank you for being so friendly and fun with my son and his friends in Ealing yesterday together with Sir Rowley. Big hits in our house;-)
That’s why we’ve written to the CEOs of the UK’s top mobile phone providers asking them to join a roundtable discussion about how the police, City Hall and the wider industry can work together to help reduce mobile phone thefts in London and beyond.
Last year nearly 70% of all thefts in London related to mobile phones.
I’m working with the @MetPoliceUK commissioner to renew actions to reduce mobile phone thefts, but we need the mobile phone industry to play their part. standard.co.uk/news/uk/mark-r…
@RupaHuq@GBNEWS That's cool!! Noel Redding went on to live in Ardfield nr. Clonakilty, West Cork where I am from and Mitch Mitchell joined there. They played regularly at local pub. And unlike GBees, I know you are my MP!
A huge thank you to @johnmcdonnellMP for your support with our eating disorders roundtable! It was a really productive meeting and I am looking forward to progressing things further!
