@ChrisBa13206760 @07Simmo And that's why it's argued that it was more competitive, as there were more teams who could beat anyone on their day, hence the lower points totals at the end of the season. I don't think the quality was abysmal, far from it. There was less reliance on tactics but it was intense

@ChrisBa13206760 @07Simmo And entertaining, without it being the best league. I think for most of the 90s, the best of the best still tended to go to Italy or Spain as the money was better but the PL slowly started to compete more. There was a smaller gap between the lower and top sides back then.

Little kids mostly #LFC fans trying to belittle football greats, trying to destroy our game. Cantona got 15 goals, 12 assists that season. Football was more competitive back then. If it was so easy for you, why did we win 13 and you win 0 titles? #MUFC must stick together
Real Hater@22Hater_

Just to confirm so that people who aren’t clued up on Cantona’s time at Utd don’t get fooled by this stuff; In 97 you needed 69 points to win the title. Cantona scored 11 goals this season He made the PFA TOTY once in 7 seasonsc during the WORST era in Premier League history

@07Simmo The quality of the league was abysmal back then. Newcastle weren't a patch on the Man City team that Liverpool were up against.

@LeClassiquePod I was in the south of France in early 1994 and was wearing the black United shirt with Cantona on the back and it generated much attention from the locals, who all loved him.

Cantona didn’t capture imagination in 🇫🇷 in the same way he did in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿. He had played his way out of France by the early 90s because of misunderstandings, disciplinary issues and inconsistent form. He was also associated with the failure to qualify for the World Cup 94. Quick 🧵

@joshmilne94 @___LFC1892___ @Philrhyl @22Hater_ And the knock on effect of that was all the best foreign players going to Italy and Spain, where all the money was. English clubs were at least a decade away from challenging for the European Cup.

Are you dumb? Cantona won the league with Leeds then came to United won it every season he was at United apart from the one he was suspended during. Goal catalogue ridiculous, leader of men and basically decided where the league would be.

British nicknames are an unregulated industry. a 5'6 tradesman called Anthony is professionally known as Shetland Tony. a man who lost an eye is called Keth. a quiet man wore a yellow jumper once and became Mumblebee. what's the best nickname you've ever heard

@n_riddell @AdamJoseph Absolutely, if there are two clear penalties, then they should rightfully be awarded. We were awarded two in my first OT game in 1986 (and missed them both 😂)

@RichDay_MUFC @AdamJoseph We were awarded two against Everton earlier in 2024 as well. It's always going to be rare but should be totally irrelevant to a *professional* referee's decision-making.

Watch Stuart Attwell, you can see his mind racing, the penalty awarded minutes before, the controversy of giving another, rather than making the right decision he's thinking about the least controversial one. That VAR didn't intervene for a clear & obvious error is the same issue. They didn't want to rule out a goal which would create controversy to fix the error that a penalty should've been given in the first place. It's not that the system is corrupt, it's just completely incompetent. It's a disgrace & needs a full revamp in how it's implemented & who is officiating the game.

Looks like Newcastle used up all their energy in the United Cup final. Since then, they've been knocked out two competitions and lost their local derby. Sunderland are now ahead of Newcastle in the table. Wankers.

MUFC set to make formal complaint today to PGMOL after failure to award a second penalty in last night’s game. When Amad wrestled to ground with no attempt to play the ball. Club officials furious at another costly VAR blunder as I’ve said on TOTD.

@Chefiie @SkySportsPL You probably weren't even alive back then and certainly weren't watching English football. Just believing what you read on the internet that bitter ABUs have posted. United had some awful decisions go against them under Ferguson, no matter what you read and believe.

You know what’s funny? United used to cheat and have favoritism from the referees during Fergie era…and now that all that is gone.., they’re now cry babies because they’re hoping to get back to champions league football next season, competition they’ve been yearning to compete for in the last decade 😭😭😭 Hold that mfs 😭😭😏

@liverpxxl9 @banx82 @AndyMitten That wasn't what he asked. He asked if you'd want a pen for the same contact on a Liverpool player. A two handed push is a foul anywhere on the pitch.
