Today I'm launching @TryYaps on Android - a voice-first keyboard I've been rebuilding from the ground up! Ships with everything you'd expect from a modern keyboard - swipe typing, smart suggestions, autocorrect, emoji, GIFs, multi-language, light/dark themes, the whole familiar toolkit. If you're coming from Gboard, nothing to relearn. But the reason it exists is one shortcut away. Dictation that's genuinely 4× faster than typing. It also comes with some robust note taking features. A reading mode that narrates any text aloud. It also cleans up rambling drafts into something send-ready. Every one of those running on-device - no cloud, no listening, no account needed to get started. I kept wondering why no one had just built voice INTO the keyboard itself. The answer is simple, it's tough to do well 😅. Either way I built it, and will keep improving it. Feels a bit unreal to be shipping a full-stack keyboard as one person but it was fun and a necessary first step for a much broader suite of tools. AI might have saved my right ball. Not a joke. Friday night it started hurting out of nowhere. Twenty minutes in I could barely walk. My plan was to load up on pain meds, lie down, and see if it passed. I asked Claude first. It said: this could be testicular torsion, there’s a 4 to 6 hour window before you lose it, go to the ER now. Don’t eat or drink in case they need to operate. Don’t drive yourself. I went. The first ER tried to untwist it and sent me home by midnight. At 3am I woke up in worse pain and went back. They tried again, then put me in an ambulance to the bigger hospital. We still don’t know for certain it was torsion. The first doctor untwisted it before an ultrasound could catch it. Three days in the hospital. I’m home now, healing, and keeping everything I walked in with. Sudden pain down there is an emergency, not a tough-it-out thing. Hours matter. The doctors told me most guys wait too long because they’re embarrassed. Don’t be that guy. The same AI I use every day to build brands and ship products told me the exact right thing at 10pm when I was about to sleep it off. My wife is a superhero. She got me there the first time, advocated for me for three days, caught a medication error, and ran our whole house solo while doing it. If it hurts, go. If it still hurts, go back.

@jxnlco @theo If this does change, can you aim to make sure it asks as many of the questions as it can up front please? Otherwise long running tasks get stopped prematurely. Which is always frustrating.

Three days ago, GPT-5.6 deleted my Mac’s home directory. It absolutely sucked. But so many OpenAI folks reached out, and @gdb called me and offered to do anything he could to help. Massive props to OpenAI for handling a shitty situation incredibly well.

I can't believe what I'm seeing, Codex really able to do my entire app submission flow now e2e. I thought that would be my task this evening, now I can reclaim that time 😅 Good to see the computer use/in-app browser getting so good!

@omarsar0 Dumb q: how is this disruptive to do? Like, if Fable stops being available, can you not just switch over to 5.6 for coding? Does it present planning difficulties to not know which coding models will be available a week in advance?

I don't think Anthropic realizes how disruptive these changes are to users. I appreciate the extension, but please stop playing games. Either keep it under the subscriptions or put it under the API already.

@kimmonismus The codex team generally, but I've been trying to upload a plugin for the last 24 hours and I've just been going back and forth with someone who I'm sure is an AI bot posing as a human. 😭

Not only did they remove the 5-hour limit, but my rates were completely reset again. OpenAI is doing incredibly good community work right now. Kudos. Absolutely outstanding community work.

Three important updates: - Temporarily removing the 5 hour usage limit restriction for all Plus, Business and Pro plans - Rolling out changes that will make GPT 5.6 Sol more efficient across the board and that will be reflected in less usage being used so that it can take you further. The idea of "AI employees" feels so short-sighted to me - both disrespectful to humans and a complete misunderstanding of what these tools can do and how to best put them to work You may as well start adding Excel spreadsheets to your org chart
