Cinema 4D 2026 dropped. No big shiny features this time around. Just feels like a tune-up release. New logos and a few solid sim updates, but nothing to get too excited about. Also, the new Redshift icons in C4D are no longer red and I don’t know how to feel about it.

@ThomHaig @DinoMFX I'm running 2x 3090 on Win 11, driver 497.29 (the last generally agreed upon 'stable' driver) – it's hardly the pillar of stability that RS used to be, but it scrapes through on most days. Overnight renders still give me a squeaky bum

@DinoMFX On win 10. Interesting to hear the 4090 is the one. I often run quick renders while I work in comping, so it might only be worth me making that upgrade when / if the drivers get fixed. There aren’t any similar issues on 3090s are there?

Recently I had a brief ownership of a 4090. I ended up returning it. As soon as you opened any other program, render times soared. Is this a 4090 thing? A faulty thing? Some suggested it’s a new 5xx driver thing. Would love to hear any thoughts!

@DinoMFX I do wish I had more of a split though, definitely miss that chance to learn from peers and bounce ideas around in an organic way rather than on video calls

@DinoMFX I wholeheartedly agree, but what I will say is that family life is WAY better, I can pick up my kid from school, and as soon as I clock off - I'm right there in the kitchen to help prep dinner, rather than getting home after a long stressful commute to just catch my boy's bedtime

Am I the only who got tired to work alone in an own office and misses real teamwork in a Studio with peers? Video calls are unproductive. File sharing over Dropbox sucks. Logging in remotely sucks. Syncing issues, communication issues. Different working times. No overview.

@cgpov @rolando_bl Ahh and I remember when everyone started dumping Octane for Redshift, 'the production-ready renderer', because Octane just crashed too damn much 😅

@rolando_bl Redshift crashes enough just on its own, fairly sure if I hit RT my machine would catch fire. BTW, Redshift is the only renderer that’s fully blue screened my PC. Really hope stability is a priority 😩

@estebandiacono Yep just this last week, crashes constantly rendering simple scenes with EXRs, locking up the whole machine then 'out of memory' errors. I'm running a Threadripper with 128GB RAM, this should not be happening.

Is it just me of After Effects is WAY slower than it used to be? I'm rendering a 24 second, 10 layer composition with 3, 4 effects (that ship with AE) and it's taking over 35 minutes on a very powerful computer. What the hell. Probably the EXR handling is still awful?
