@MBernardoNews It would be nice if the BC Conservatives would understand the difference between curriculum and resources before spouting off. The provincial curriculum is here. curriculum.gov.bc.ca It’s all broken down by age/grade and entirely appropriate.

A frontrunner in the BC Conservative leadership race wants to repeal a controversial program aimed at making schools more inclusive. Kamloops Centre MLA Peter Milobar says the SOGI anti-bullying policy is not "age appropriate." "We absolutely have to protect kids in schools..."

Let's make something clear with Bill 25. Teachers are still allowed to talk about political science, current events etc. But it must be presented in a neutral and balanced way free from personal bias. Schools should teach kids how to think not what to think.

FACT CHECK: No, Pierre Poilievre. This man isn’t facing a $750,000 fine for simply saying ‘there are two genders.’ Once you read the actual B.C. Human Rights Tribunal decision, you might find Poilievre’s defence of this “truth” and “free speech” chilling and, well, indefensible:

@RobynUrback In his role as AN EMPLOYER to HIS EMPLOYEES who are not allowed to talk back to him without being disciplined. Everyone writing about this case needs to go back to 2017/18 era and read the Chilliwack Progress coverage of this man. He is not a hero or victim.

It is crazy, frankly, that an arm of the government can order someone to pay $750,000 for offensive posts on Facebook. It's an alarming decision, from a disreputable tribunal. theglobeandmail.com/opinion/articl…

Definitely possible, sadly. Carney is on the rise. Conservatives should be all over the insanity of gender ideology. It’s a moral imperative, and it’s the biggest winning issue they can differentiate themselves on. Get men out of women’s sports, out of women’s prisons, out of women’s rape shelters, and stop the harm of children. There is no such thing as a transgender child.

@BenjaminiteMD @carriemae68 @PierrePoilievre Go do some reading from the news back in the day. A lot more than what was in the HR complaint process, which focused on his impact as a school trustee, a member of an employer board. He was awful to a lot of people. Should not be held up as a hero.

This is insane and Orwellian. Governments and kangaroo courts now chill freedom of expression instead of fighting crime, censoring people who dare to speak their minds. Just ask the B.C. school board trustee who got slapped with a $750,000 fine for saying there are two genders. Enough is enough. We must defend the truth and free speech against these mad censors. @BenjaminiteMD @PierrePoilievre You should go back and read articles form 2017/2018 era in the Chilliwack Progress. This man was relentless in attacking people. He was deemed by his own board not to be safe enough for schools.

@RichTweets @PierrePoilievre He didn't, as far as I could tell from the decision. He disagreed with a school policy, and said it would be bad for kids. All well within the bounds of reasonable debate.

Absolutely disgraceful. The political class in BC is using the power of the state to silence everyday citizens. I’m a Builder, not a career politician. I know that if we let them strip away our right to speak freely, we lose everything. We need a firewall against this radical, anti-freedom agenda. Do you support free speech? @Prominent_Bryan Here’s the thing. He was a school trustee, and therefore part of the employing body of a school district. It’s not just what he said, it’s that he said it from a position of power with people he had authority over (including employees and kids) .

@TristinHopper Alternatively you can go to their Facebook page and read all three statements that have been put out. Or… you can keep trying to make things worse for everyone - the victims, their families, the survivors, the first responders, the school staff.

The attack was literally on a BC school, and the BCTF's first impulse is to deflect attention from a system they've helped enable that systematically prioritizes the gender delusions of dangerous men over basic public safety. They're telling you they're prepared to accept much more collateral damage.

The Exxon Valdez spill (1989) released 11 million gallons of oil into Prince William Sound, affecting 1,300 miles of coastline. Environmental impacts: Killed ~250,000 seabirds, 2,800 sea otters, 300 harbor seals, 250 bald eagles, 22 orcas, and billions of fish eggs. Long-term: Some species (e.g., herring, orcas) haven't recovered; oil persists in sediments. Economic impacts: $300M harm to 32K+ fishing-dependent people; tourism dropped 8-35% ($5.5M loss); recreational fishing lost $31M; cleanup cost $2-2.5B; total costs >$7B including settlements. In shallow, rough seas like Hecate Strait, diluted bitumen (dilbit) initially floats and spreads like medium crude oil. However, rough waves accelerate weathering: diluent evaporates, it emulsifies with water, becomes denser, and can mix with sediments to form sinking aggregates or tar balls. This risks seabed contamination. Recovery is challenging. Sources: NOAA, NAS reports, scientific studies.
