What I was getting at more is the focus on time at the computer, getting those notes submitted before rounds, etc.
I’ve seen notes from the 80s they were…succinct

@RichardAFerraro I think that the exam skills have diminished w each generation; therefore, we don’t have the teachers who CAN teach it.
Trainees certainly got up earlier and worked longer days in previous generations, so I can’t attribute it to that.

Two observations from a cardiologist who has always believed in the physical exam:
1. Residents and fellows will sometimes look at you as if you’re doing a party trick.
2. Even when I do a focused, cursory exam of a patient, patients tell me that it is the most thorough physical examination that they have had in years.

You can't make this diagnosis in case of sinus rate slowing. (Or from elsewhere... when sinus rate is very slow and you have escapes.)
