When Tolkien wrote about the hobbits, he was referring to the gentlefolk of the English shires, who don’t realize the horrors that take place far away. They were able to live their lives in peace and tranquility, but only because they were protected by the hard men of Gondor. What happened to the nice man who was brutally murdered while walking his dog will happen to all of England if the tide of illegal immigration is not turned. It is time for the English to ally with the hard men, like Tommy Robinson, and fight for their survival or they shall surely all die.

This is a great example of people trying to turn Tolkien into a political science textbook. Tolkien explicitly rejected allegory. He said so in the foreword to The Lord of the Rings. He didn’t write fables about isolationism, globalism, or whatever -ism Twitter wants to graft onto him this week. The Hobbits’ peace wasn’t an allegory for foreign policy; it was a moral observation. Civilization depends on simple, decent folk living good lives under the protection of those willing to do hard things. That’s not imperialism or isolationism, it’s a statement about virtue and gratitude. Tolkien believed evil arises when people try to dominate others for their own vision of ‘the good.’ Saruman thought he was bringing order and progress too and look how that turned out. So no, the Shire isn’t a metaphor for isolationism, and it wasn’t protected by a UN Security Council resolution either. Sometimes it really is just about heroes fighting evil so decent people can garden in peace.

The police have informed my lawyers that I face no further action in respect of the arrest at Heathrow in September. After a successful hearing to get my bail conditions lifted (one which the police officer in charge of the case didn't even bother to attend) the Crown Prosecution Service has dropped the case.
