Today was one of the hardest and proudest days of my life. Tears in my eyes, but pride in my heart. Our son Matthew left today for a six-month deployment with the United States Air Force. His first deployment. I was the exact same age he is now when I went on my first deployment, and today I finally understood what my parents must have felt when they watched me leave. That quiet mix of pride, fear, love, and letting go. It’s bittersweet watching your child grow into a man who is willing to serve something bigger than himself. You raise them, you teach them, you try to prepare them for the world… and one day they put on a uniform and step into it. I am incredibly proud of you, Matthew. I pray for your safety and for all the young men and women serving our country around the world. I pray they all come home safe to their families and friends. God bless you, buddy. We love you and miss you already. 🇺🇸 @NoFallenHeroes @SuziNFH
