@lafih22 @robprogressive You basically just summarised why people buy to let... to preserve there savings. Because the value on money goes down. So they move it to something that preserves the value, if money held its value people wouldn't need to buy houses to rent

@Rick__BTC @robprogressive I'm not. You can either take the price of goods for the currency you earn when you earn it. Or you can, Try to preserve the spending power of savings. Now, everyone does the former, not everyone does the latter. You have two choices when you get paid, you spend or you can save

“Landlords shouldn’t make a profit.” Right… So I invest hundreds of thousands into a property, take on all the risk… …cover the repairs, taxes, & upkeep & I’m not supposed to earn anything in return on my investment? I provide housing for people who can’t (or don’t want to) buy yet somehow I’m the villain? How exactly do you expect homes to exist without someone paying the actual cost? It’s not exploitation. It’s economics Wake up you left hypocrites

@lafih22 @robprogressive You are missing the point here. Cheap credit was made available because of money printers and fiat money not being controlled by a standard IE gold. When you have nothing to peg a printable money system then it gets abused. This happened all through history.

@lafih22 @robprogressive Fiat was pegged with gold hence the gold standard. House prices stayed stable and affordable due to gold. Once unlimited printing started prices of everything boomed, not just houses but generally the whole cost of living.

@Rick__BTC @robprogressive The gold standard was fixing the price of gold.. not money. All you're saying is people have invested equally in gold and property and driven the price up of both, they are commodities not currency

@louderry Minimum wage is part of the problem. Higher bottom earners, means higher cost of living for everyone, including the Minimum wagers. Higher tax free freshold so everyone benefits makes more sense.

People are claiming the retirement age being too high is why we have a youth unemployment problem. We don't have a retirement age. We work until we can afford not to As media and employers campaign to scrap the bare minimum wage and workers rights, it will be longer than ever

@lafih22 @robprogressive Prices do not go up, money loses it value. Value a house vs gold, not Fiat. House prices are around the same 1950 if valued in gold

@robprogressive Buy to let interest only mortgages came out in 1996, landlords are the reason people cannot afford to buy and why rental properties are in demand. Landlords are the problem, not the solution

@robprogressive Land goes up in value every single year without any inputs so the claims of risk are baseless. The notion that landlords can earn an entire salary is the issue that has lead to the rising rents.

@Femi_sorry People forget it would be possible from the savings but the funds are spent by the government not the people pushing for it. Tories screwed us over and now Labour prefer to spend the money on welfare screwing us over again

🚨Breaking News Failed migrant familes will get £40,000 to leave and will have 7 days to do so. Shabana Mahmood says up to 150 families will take part. So is everyone happy with spending 6 million to get rid of 150 families who have no right to be here in the first place?

🚨A staggering 750,000 people registered with a GP last year whose last address was outside the UK. And this figure does not include the foreign nationals who won’t even have registered with a GP and just walk into A&E. The population explosion is depriving Brits of access to their health service. Labour’s response is to offshore the NHS to Malaysia. Britain is broken. Britain needs Reform. Credit: @migrationCtrl

Never forget, Starmer won fewer votes at the last general election than Corbyn did both times he ran. The ONLY reason Starmer is PM is because the Tory vote collapsed as the British public had enough of their betrayal and corruption. Starmers ONLY offering to the electorate was that he would not be corrupt and sleazy. What’s happened since? An endless tornado of corruption. First there was Lord Alli, their donor who was given a pass to no 10. The appointment of Ian Corfield a Labour donor into a cushy role at the Treasury. Then it turned out Starmer had failed to declare they were getting designer clothes, hospitality, accommodation and even designer spectacles from Lord Alli, And now Starmer admits he knew that Mandelson continued his sickeningly close relationship with Epstein even after he’d become a convicted paedophile. He ingored the advice of our security services and appointed him US ambassador anyway. Mandelson had received tens of thousands of dollars from Epstein to whom he leaked news about the half a trillion euro bailout and the resignation of Gordon Brown before the public knew. Mandelson emailed Epstein to call his release from prison for sex offences as “liberation day”. Yes, Mandelson almost certainly belongs in jail, but the buck stops with the executive. Keir Starmer is a disgrace to his office and must resign.
