The initial 24 hours of the now official US blockade will be very significant because the United States is obviously operating on a short timeline. These are the primary actions I am watching for. (Not cheering for, not cheering against, just... read) 1) Will the United States strike Iranian vessels LOADING at oil terminals? 2) Will the United States interdict vessels OUTSIDE of the blockade line? 3) Will the United States conduct military strikes on critical Iranian economic infrastructure? 4) Will the United States strike civilian infrastructure (roads, bridges, rail lines, power plants, water infrastructure)? 5) Will the United States turn to full naval escorts along the Omani Route? 6) Will the United States conduct an AIR blockade of Iran?

@Monogrammaton Okay thanks, but they aren't painful at all, and I don't think they get red in any unusual way - they are uniformly red all over when they are hot, which is normal. I just hate wearing socks and sometimes it gets unbearable. Apreciate your suggestions though. :O)

@Ride4Truth Next time it gets unbearably sensitive, I mean unbearably, take the socks off and check right then to see if the most painful spots are warm to the touch! And double check that they're not red.

Any other NDs have that thing where you can be wearing socks all day, absolutely no problem, and then all of a sudden it's like they're strangling your ankles, suffocating your feet, and you HAVE TO TAKE THEM OFF RIGHT NOW THIS INSTANT OR YOU WILL EXPLODE... (or is just me?)

@Monogrammaton Well i don't feel pain and i don't get red, but perhaps. Tbh i think it's more that my natural state is a sock-hater, but i only get unbearably sensitive after a full day of foot-imprisonment, when i'm sitting and being still. I have plenty of other sensitivities!

@Ride4Truth You likely have erythromelalgia, a misunderstood and not-so-rare neurovascular condition. Cold water on the feet should bring relief. You may have other neurovascular conditions too. I haven’t been able to be functional in public for long periods because of the socks problem.

@Ride4Truth Nah, I got the sock thing too. Usually they’re fine through the day, but by the evening, I’m ripping them off.

Anyone got hot tips for getting by day by day in a world where everything is going to keep getting objectively worse for my foreseeable natural lifespan and I'm not ignorant enough not to clock it and I'm not capable of deluding myself into false optimism?

Here you go. The last dying kicks of this corrupted, authoritarian government. This is being done under the State Threats Bill that Mahmood and allies like Luke Akehurst pushed through Parliament in the last month. This is going to have wild, unpredictable effects. Practically what it will mean is that it will be almost impossible for media outlets to work with on- the-ground journalists to report on Iran, Gaza or Lebanon. But I fear this will also be turned on the movement protesting Israel's genocide in Gaza. Don't believe me? Just days ago NGO Monitor produced a wild-eyed report, endorsed by Lord Walney and Michael Gove, that paints the huge public protests in the UK against Israel's genocide as the work of an international campaign linked to nefarious foreign actors. The report urged the IRGC to be proscribed. Proscribing the IRGC is one of the most consistent and powerful demands of the Board of Deputies and other pro-Israel organisations. Deeply chilling, authoritarian, irresponsible stuff. Mahmood and the Labour Together project have waged a vicious war on our democracy and basic civil liberties.

BREAKING: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards will be effectively proscribed as a terrorist group, the home office has announced. Ministers are today laying draft regulations before parliament to ban the IRGC and fellow Iranian group the Islamic Movement of Companions of the Right (IMCR). The GRU, the Russian military intelligence unit, will also be designated, if approved by parliament.

I've pieced together this incredibly rare & precious Edwardian colour movie, filmed 118 years ago at Upton Manor Farm in Southwick, England. This is the Autumn Harvest of 1908, showing rural life in the UK just 7 years after the end of the Victoria Era, when our life and work was considerably less mechanised. This is amongst the earliest British colour films, which was made via Kinemacolour, developed by George Albert Smith in 1906. It employed a spinning 2-colour filter system of red and green filters to replicate "full colour". The separate colour frames line up pretty well, except fo shots of lateral movement, such as the horse's legs where the individual coloured filters become much more apparent. The music I've used is the Largo movement from Dvořák's Symphony No. 9, "From the New World", which is rather ironic considering the film shows us scenes of the Old World long gone. Watch until the end, which leaves us a charming little love story. Though perhaps she waved her fellow off to War on the Western Front 6 years later... (One of my hobbies is to collect old colour film footage, and if you enjoy this example I might share a few extra videos on my account)
