#PropyKeys Have you met my Texas yet? I’ll tell you about this beautiful little lake nestled through the eastern edges of the Texas Hill-country. The lake follows what was known as the Leon River prior to the completion of the Belton Lake Dam in 1954…

@TeslaFamBen @Tesla @tesla_na Prove they were sleeping… or otherwise not paying attention. Prove that’s not someone you simply disagree with, in which case, Tesla should ban you from any of their vehicles.

My husband and I went out for dinner last night, and something happened that honestly left me confused. Our bill came to $70, and we left $20 on the table as a tip. In my mind, that felt reasonable. It was not meant to be disrespectful, and we were not trying to make any kind of statement. We simply paid the bill and left what we thought was a fair tip. But the waiter refused to take it and told us that if we were not willing to tip at least $35, then we should not be dining out. I was surprised, because $20 on a $70 bill is still a real amount of money. Maybe it is not what some people expect now, but it also does not feel like nothing. I understand that servers work hard. I know tips matter, and I respect the people who do that job. But I also think moments like this show how tense tipping culture has become. What used to feel like a thank-you now sometimes feels like a demand. Customers feel pressured, servers feel underpaid, and everyone ends up frustrated with each other instead of questioning the system that created the problem. So I am genuinely asking: was $20 on a $70 bill really that bad, or have tipping expectations gotten out of hand..., 🤔🤔🤔?

@MPJ725681 @iqrafatma1278 You should visit west Texas. Most local restaurants actually impose a service fee of 10% no matter how you pay - to cover their debit/credit card fees. I call this extremely poor business practice, but hey, add gratuity in there as well… that’s a no for my repeat visit.

@Fight2bFree11 @lmoorept @iqrafatma1278 And on avg, McDonald’s starting wage nationwide is $13 an hour. Why? Because, just like in Scottsdale, the federal min wage is recognized as insufficient to hire and keep a staff. In other words, that’s the definition of being underpaid. Facts.

You are correct, that is the FEDERAL minimum wage. Individual states have their own laws / requirements. Here in the western USA, the $2.13 wage is, in many cases, a thing of the past. Things changed when there was a push to increase minimum wage. And some cities in these states have even higher hourly wages than what I posted below. Did you know here in Scottsdale, Arizona, a worker at In-n-Out starts at $19 to $21 an hour? Many of the servers and bartenders at “sit-down” restaurants do fairly well. Again, these are considered ENTRY-LEVEL jobs.

@Im_opsG @iqrafatma1278 Anyone making less than $10 an hour is underpaid. $2.13 is the bottom. That’s the lowest pay possible. No one claims it’s anyone’s problem. Facts. Keep your feelings in check, bruh.

@RigelRandolph @iqrafatma1278 Servers are not underpaid. There’s a reason it’s such a popular job. Most people tip 20%. Many servers do very well.

@RigelRandolph @iqrafatma1278 Definitely not in this situation. Post tagged in LA. Depending on the place it will range from $16.90 an hour to $20.00 an hour minimum. Tips in California does not go towards your wage. So say they made bare minimum $36.90 appx an hour. Please tell me they are underpaid

@RigelRandolph @iqrafatma1278 What are you talking about?!?! Are servers forced, under threat of violence, to take service jobs? Last I checked, it was voluntary. And, a dumbass waiter who was left a tip that is DOUBLE the standard tip for so-so service complaining about it is the definition of entitlement.

@RigelRandolph @iqrafatma1278 Minimum wage in Texas is only $7.25/hr. Maybe the waitress should work for MW and she will appreciate the generous tip.

@CarlitoClassico @iqrafatma1278 Right. That literally happened a few years ago.. remember 2022 and 2023… and the excuse was no one wants to work, young people are all lazy. Back to shitty wages and less jobs and less people eating out… I heard someone say recently.. If you’re homeless, just buy a house…

@RigelRandolph @iqrafatma1278 I have less buying power than I did in 2019 even with raises that weren't even close to covering inflation and so does 90% of the rest of the country, not an excuse. Find another career or position.

@golfer3691 @iqrafatma1278 You make it seem like America is economically great right now! There’s significantly fewer people going out to eat. That’s less volume at higher cost. At best it’s even.

@Krasher247 @iqrafatma1278 Don’t get mad with bare minimum service. You don’t have to eat there. And servers know how to keep repeat a-holes from returning.

@RigelRandolph @iqrafatma1278 Servers aren’t supposed to be a lifelong career. If you don’t like the server pay, stand up for yourself and make a change. You agreed to be way underpaid when you decided to work there as a server

@VarounP17 @iqrafatma1278 Here’s another thought, don’t get mad when you get the bare minimum service as you clearly don’t respect them or the job. One less a-hole to worry about repeat visits.

@xavier222222 @iqrafatma1278 Servers could also do the bare minimum when you come in and say they provided you with the minimum standard. That’ll be good enough to keep you out of those places.

@RigelRandolph @iqrafatma1278 Then the servers need to unionize and DEMAND a living wage from their EMPLOYER, not the CUSTOMER. Tips are intended to be a GRATUITY for going above and beyond what is expected, not fulfilling the standard of the job.

@RigelRandolph @iqrafatma1278 Who the hell tips 50%? I was a server for years. Made great money. Never once did I complain about a tip. And I am willing to bet this actually did not happen. Just click bait.
