okay but zoom out and the real story is that australia built an economy that imports 80% of its fuel and is now shocked that a middle east conflict made fuel expensive. this is a tail risk that was completely visible and completely ignored because cheap imports were more convenient than energy sovereignty. the A$1 billion in loans is treating the symptom. the disease is a country that outsourced a critical input to the most geopolitically unstable region on earth. genuinely curious whether any country has successfully reversed an energy import dependency this deep without a decade-long industrial policy commitment

Debt only exists if the consequences for not paying it can be enforced.
