Children of American citizens born outside the US, even with spouses from somewhere other than the US, are considered the same as citizens born on American shores.
I looked into this. My daughter is even constitutionally-eligible to run for president when she reaches age 35, so long as she's lived in the US for the prior 14 years. Odds are she won't, but she COULD.
Ted Cruz I think would be unaffected by such an amendment.

Article I, Section 5, Clause 2 of the Constitution already grants Congress the authority to expel members, and Mace has pointed to examples of alleged misconduct by Omar and other leftists that she says justifies a blanket ban on naturalized citizens holding office. I'm simply suggesting that Congress exercise the legal power which it already has.

That's just it--the Democrats have already demonstrated they'll destroy their opponents by any means necessary, meaning they'll do it to us if they get the chance. If we're going to be banning anyone from Congress, then I want it on the basis of what they stand for rather than where they were born.

@RightEdge_Media @NancyMace This is a slippery slope though. They tried to impeach Trump and then later tried to keep him off ballots by claiming he incited an insurrection. You can't just call someone a marxist, claim they aren't loyal to the country, and kick them out of Congress.

To be fair, the Constitution doesn't actually define the term and the Supreme Court has never adjudicated it either. Since he wasn't born on US soil, Cruz's claim to citizenship is derived from Section 301 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), legislation which Congress passed under its authority to write rules for the naturalization of aliens in Article I, Section 8, Clause 4. I suppose one could argue that he isn't "natural born" on that basis.

They are interchangeable and both refer to someone who acquires U.S. citizenship automatically at birth, as opposed to through naturalization later in life. Neither term excludes Ted Cruz.

Shouldn't be "natural born" (citizens at birth based on the constitution*), but "born citizens" (includes those born to Americans abroad, who are citizens by law). I was confused because in other posts she called for a blanket ban on "foreign-born" representatives. Regardless, she should be pushing to expel Omar and others (something Congress has the power to do right now) instead of an amendment that would exclude naturalized patriots and Marxists alike.

Ilhan Omar is a prime example of why our constitutional amendment is necessary.
She allegedly committed marriage and immigration fraud to get her brother into this country, is tied to millions in a Somali fraud case in her own state, and has made comments publicly about how she is “Somalia first.”
She has spewed hate towards law enforcement officers keeping innocent Americans safe, did not know how many World Wars have been fought, and has stood on American soil and said the United States is turning into one of the worst countries in the world.
She's not a natural born American citizen. And she's made clear she's not America first. She has no business being in a position of power within our government.
