Democracy requires constant defense. It does not maintain itself. Republicans want to require citizenship documents to vote in federal elections. On its face, it sounds administrative. In practice, it would disenfranchise millions of eligible voters — disproportionately Black, brown, and low-income Americans. This is not about election integrity. There is no evidence of widespread non-citizen voting. This is about who gets to participate in democracy. I believe in a democracy that is accessible to every eligible citizen. Not just the ones who happen to have their papers. We will fight this legislation with everything we have.

In the United States we need hundreds of new hospitals and health clinics. We need thousands of new child care centers. We need millions of new units of affordable housing. We do NOT need to spend another $500 billion on the military for endless wars.

I welcome the announcement of a ceasefire & the planned large-scale exchange of prisoners between Ukraine & Russia.     I commend the efforts of the USA in facilitating this agreement & fully support its implementation.   I reiterate my call for an immediate, full, unconditional & lasting ceasefire, as a first step toward a just, sustainable & comprehensive peace, in line with the @UN Charter & international law.
