we’re not really “designing” right now, we’re just constantly switching contexts trying to not get left behind every week there’s a new tool claiming to be the future → paper, pencil, magicpatterns, magicpath… now noon shows up with $44M and changes the narrative again so instead of going deep, everyone’s just sampling everything trying prompts here, generating screens there, tweaking in figma, jumping to code, back to AI again half the industry is already inside code editors the other half is still figuring out which tool is even worth committing to fomo is doing more damage than we realise because depth needs stability and right now the stack itself is unstable so no one is mastering anything everyone is just trying to be early eventually this will settle and a default will emerge till then, we’re all just beta testers pretending to have a workflow 👀

Designers are the most underrated hire in tech. Not talking about someone who makes things pretty. talking about someone who holds the whole product in their head. the look, the feel, the strategy, what it needs to become 2 years from now. When building was hard, engineers owned the status hierarchy. made sense. Building is no longer hard. The variance in outcomes shifted almost entirely to judgment. What to build, how to sequence it, how to talk about it. Designers have always trained for that judgment. The rarest versions are the ones shipping products faster than most eng-heavy teams. The variance in outcomes has almost entirely shifted to: what do we build, in what order, and why does it matter. The story is clear from the beginning. You can't retrofit narrative onto a product. Designers know this better than anyone. Before you say "designers have always been valuable"... Yes. But now they *might* be the most important person in the room. Their value compounds like never before. Most founders/companies just haven't caught up yet.

The gap between "I love how they designed this" and "I have it in my Figma" just collapsed to one prompt. Built a design research pipeline that brings the design taste of any product into Figma. No screenshotting. No eyedropping. No guessing font sizes. Just one prompt in a terminal. Here's the problem: You see a pricing page you love - Stripe, Linear, Notion -and you want that level of design quality in your project. So you screenshot, squint at spacing, guess the border radius, and spend hours rebuilding it from scratch. I connected 3 MCP servers to Claude Code and replaced all of that: "Design a pricing page inspired by Stripe and Linear" → @referodesign MCP searched 124K+ real product screenshots → Pulled the design taste - exact hex colors, font weights, spacing, layout patterns, UX conventions → @claudeai Code wrote HTML/CSS blending both design languages into something new → @figma MCP captured it into my file as editable layers Under 3 minutes. Cost $1.24 . Figma Output in Thread 👀 Old workflow of screenshot → squint → rebuild? - That's dead 💀

F*ck your weekend plans, designer edition. You NEED to: - Set up Claude Code, codex CLI with Figma and try code → design & vice versa, mapping tasks & creation - Watch Jenny Wen (Anthropic) & Boris Cherny (Claude Code) on Lenny’s Podcast - Build 1 small Figma plugin for your workflow - Read these: Anthropic: Building Effective AI Agents, Paper design blogs, Twitter bookmarks - Understand & document how teams at other companies are using AI in their workflows (eg: Linear, Vercel, Notion, Perplexity) - start a design second brain in Notion - Last touch some grass, go for run!
