DOWNGRADE SUCCESSFUL ! Nathan Cleary has won a downgrade on his high tackle charge and will play Round 1 against the Brisbane Broncos. Cleary will have to pay an $1800 fine for his tackle after already pleading guilty to the charge.

🚨State of Origin eligibility rules have officially been overhauled in a historic ARL Commission decision. Players who represent tier-one nations like New Zealand and England are now free to play Origin if they qualify by state pathway (lived there before 13). What it means: • Victor Radley can represent NSW despite playing for England • AJ Brimson’s Origin hopes revived after switching to England • Addin Fonua-Blake now eligible for NSW despite past NZ Test • Isaiya Katoa, Kaeo Weekes & Kalyn Ponga free to choose NZ without harming Origin chances • Casey McLean & Briton Nikora also eligible for NSW However, Ronaldo Mulitalo remains ineligible for QLD as he moved to Australia after turning 13. Peter V’landys: “If a player is eligible to play State of Origin, it makes no sense to exclude them simply because they’ve represented New Zealand or England at Test level.” (DT)
