In their wildest fantasies about Hunter Biden, Republicans didn't come up with anything half as corrupt as what Kushner is doing in front of our eyes every day. He's handling US foreign policy at the exact same time that he's taking billions from the Saudi dictator.

Here's the hard truth nobody wants to say out loud. 👇🏼 A society works when the middle class and lower middle class have rising incomes and feel aspirational about their lives. Right now they feel economically desperate. And that desperation is real and it is valid. But Trump has provided zero policy solutions. None. He's an avatar for their anger. I understand that. I genuinely do. But what they want right now is to wreck the entire system. The system that produced the greatest economic miracle in the history of the world. Not tweak it. Not reset it. Wreck it. And you know who else wants that? Vladimir Putin. Our adversaries have one goal: make the British and American people believe their elections don't matter. That their institutions aren't legitimate. That the system is rigged against them and their vote is meaningless. Make them cynical. Make them feel left out. Make them burn it down. Trump feeds that narrative every single day. Not because he's a Russian asset. But because his entire political existence depends on people feeling like the system is broken beyond repair. And our adversaries are sitting back and watching it work.

I don’t agree with conservative columnist David French all that often, but I totally agree with his piece today on James Talarico. Here are a few excerpts: __________ Yet if the primary American divide is between decent and indecent, then the equation changes. Talarico shines. Or, to put it another way, Talarico is one of the few openly Christian politicians in the United States who acts like a Christian, and by acting like a Christian he reveals a profound contrast with so many members of the MAGA Christian movement that’s dominated American political life for 10 years. . . . . . . This miserable political moment won’t end when the left takes back the government from the right or if the right continues to beat the left. It will end when our politicians — especially Christian politicians — forsake cruelty for compassion and realize that we shall know Christians in politics not by their stridency and ideology, but by their integrity and love, including their love for, as Talarico put it, “all of our neighbors.” That’s the significance of the Talarico moment — not the old news that a Christian can be progressive, but rather that Christian politicians can actually act like Christians. Kindness still has a place in the public square, even if it doesn’t always seem that way.

This lady ate a surface-to-air missile, sustained a 12-14 G rocket-propelled ejection, likely hit the ground at 15+ miles per hour… And then she popped up smiling at the locals who came to help her. Tell me again that women don’t belong in combat.

.@JamesTalarico: Can you name a school where it has been confirmed that students are using litter boxes? Republican: W-well… This bill prevents that from happening Talarico: Can you name a school where that’s happening? Republican: N-no I cannot Talarico: I find it concerning that these types of debunked conspiracy theories are being used by politicians at the highest levels of our government who know that they're incorrect. This whole thing is just weird and honestly a little creepy, and I think that's the point because this is all, in my opinion, a manufactured, debunked smear campaign against our Texas public schools. These culture war attacks are nothing more than an effort to discredit our public schools to justify defunding those public schools. Texas librarians are not grooming kids, Texas teachers are not indoctrinating kids, and Texas schools are not providing litter boxes. And I think the most disappointing part about all this is that I think you know that.

Hoping my friends back home in Texas heed John Cornyn’s warning about Paxton—a fraudster and serial philanderer on the taxpayer dole. Sadly Paxton is all but certain to win his primary since good character is now a liability among the GOP base. But @JamesTalarico is in a tight race and can win. Vote for him in the Democratic primary instead—and then again in the general—so Texans don’t elevate a sleazy serial fraudster like Paxton to the US Senate. It’s a no-brainer.

83% of Americans support voter ID, including 71% of Democrats and 76% of black voters. BUT the federal policy Trump and the GOP are pushing goes FAR beyond Voter ID. It demands DOCUMENTARY PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP. That means your driver's license isn't good enough. Your REAL ID isn't good enough. You need a BIRTH CERTIFICATE or PASSPORT — which 21 million Americans don't have handy.  That's not voter ID. That's a wholly different policy regime that requires adequate time and resources to implement properly — or millions of lawful voters will be unfairly barred from the ballot booth.

You know who kept Iran from getting nuclear weapons? Obama. Trump ripped up that deal and walked away, and here we are today. He's desperately trying to come up with a way to solve a problem that he created out of thin air.

A new NPR investigation reveals the Department of Justice withheld portions of the Jeffrey Epstein files that contain allegations involving President Trump. Democrats on the House Oversight Committee said the withholding is a potential crime. @GeoffRBennett discussed more with Julie K. Brown, an investigative reporter for the Miami Herald whose reporting helped expose much of the Epstein network.
