I started 2023 with the goal of finishing my first Ironman and ended 2023 as the #1 🇦🇺 | #9 🌎 30-34 @IRONMANtri All World Athlete. Three lessons: 1. Set bigger goals. 2. Plan your training in advance, and put it in your calendar - @zeitcalendar 3. Follow the script. I've followed first my lesson & set bigger goals for this year: 1. @UTMBWorldSeries – Canyons 100-mile run - Finish 2. @IRONMANtri Cairns - Kona qualification. 3. Break the longest single event triathlon world record @GWR Two thank yous: @kelsm994 for being my biggest fan, patient nurse, and best friend. 2.@CochraneSimon for coaching me and showing me how it's done.

If I was a young ambitious person today, I’d try to go work at a vertically integrated company (hardware, software and/or ops).. The sheer complexity of problems that you have solve in the moving world truly makes you better at thinking through second & third order effects. The world of bits will seem FAR easier when you conquer the world of atoms.

Got my third results from @rythmhealth My apoB shot back up to 123 from 86... not good. But I figured out that it's mostly diet and lifestyle The month where it was 86 (lower is better) was because i had cut out all sat fats and did lots of leafy greens and more zone 2 cardio. The issue tho, was that my T levels started to tank and I had way less energy. So I reincorporated sat fats and haven't been doing much zone 2 cardio. So now the number is back where we started (the red zone) Controlling my ApoB is entirely a symptom of diet and lifestyle (which is fantastic). I got my LP(a) done, the genetic marker, and I was extremely low (which is fantastic). So just going to modify my diet / lifestyle to get this number consistently under 90 (ideally) Basically my results are showing that I have an under active thyroid aka hypothyroidism. Which directly contributes to energy, T levels, and everything else. My mom has an under active thyroid, and some results I had done last year also warned me that my thyroid was underperforming. The solution? Steak and eggs. Seriously. I haven't been eating much red meat, or eggs, and i'll be reintroducing MUCH more of them back into my diet. I've probably had an under active thyroid because i'm low in iron, b12, tyrosine. (been taking zinc exogenously) Had a big steak last night and slept wonderfully. Had 6 eggs for brunch. Going to work on getting my fiber up so that I can manage sat fat intake and balance my ApoB. But honestly the primary goal is the get thyroid under control, which should then stimulate everything else, like my testosterone. (even tho i found my T levels to be on the lower side this T, i do have fantastic "available free T" meaning I am making great use of the testosterone that i do have) -- it's just that i want a bigger "reservoir" of T so that i'm generally more stable Other than that, going to focus on losing 10-15lbs which should help with overall T levels too. Not drastically but a 500 cal deficit daily. I was eating breakfast which I was experimenting with. Not for me... I like not eating breakfast and having a window from 12-8 ish. Just an easier way to control my intake while allowing me to eat more calories for dinner. Oh, and incorporating more steps. Working on getting out of the house first thing in the AM to get some steps in.. 15-30 min walk to help start the day while cortisol is high (and not checking my phone etc). Very happy with Rythm because I do all of this at home instead of going into the clinic every single time. They have it nailed down. Will report back on results after my next test in November.

Got my second blood results from @rythmhealth As predicted by @RobbyWade6 my ApoB lowered by about 30% from 123 mg/dl to 86 mg/dl. As a reminder, @PeterAttiaMD says that ApoB is causally related to increased risk of heart disease / atherosclerosis, so it's something we should all pay attention to. My issue was that I had recently done a 3 day fast and then did my blood draw, so there was a massive fat flood in my system, triggering elevated triglycerides, LDL, and ApoB. So for now, now CAC scan, but I might get a carotid artery scan at some point. The other leading indicator is LP(a) which is 100% genetic and you only need to get it done once. I ordered the test through @rythmhealth and got it done. Turns out I am on the extreme low end (which is fantastic, lower the better). So no statins or PCSK9 inhibitors for me right now. That said, I did eat much less salt, less sat fat, and a more fiber which probably contributed. This is why monthly blood testing is important - you can monitor things in real time, and get more accurate readings over the course of many months rather than once or twice per year.

@sweatystartup Agree. I’d love to send you a @rythmhealth test to try, we test monthly from home. DM me if you’re interested. I have a slightly different perspective on the utility of cortisol blood testing due to it being acute and sensitive, but that’s just semantics.

A while back I encouraged folks on twitter to get bloodwork 2x a year. A doctor friend of mine started arguing with me. "No need for this. If there are no symptoms, why look for problems?" I asked him when the last time he got bloodwork was. He said 7 years. These are the doctors who are arguing with you telling you you don't need to know your ApoB, fasting insulin, testosterone, etc. WAKE UP. Being a self respecting person with a family or business and not knowing your LDL, ApoB, Fasting Insulin, Testosterone, Cortisol, Vit D and others is negligent, reckless and inexcusable.

After I got my first blood draw with @rythmhealth, I became interested in ApoB and Lp(a) (pronounced El-pee little a) These two proteins are the leading causes for ASCVD (aka heart disease). If you're over 25, it's worth getting regular blood tests. Highly recommend looking at your ApoB and Lp(a) numbers to determine how "safe" or how aggressive you might need to be in mitigating heart disease. I just really don't want a heart attack. 50% of heart attacks happen before age 65. And 50% of heart attacks end in death. My ApoB number was in the 80th percentile, really high: 123mg/L (healthy range is under 80). Good news is that with diet and lifestyle you can bring down your ApoB number by quite a lot. But if I cannot bring it down under 80-100 then I may need pharmacological treatment. The other protein Lp(a) is 100% genetic and diet & lifestyle have little to no effect of reducing this number. If both your ApoB and Lp(a) are high, then you should be seriously concerned. I took another blood test for Lp(a). 0-75nmo/L is considered low risk, 75-150 is medium risk, and 150+ is high risk. I'm 32.2nmo/L which is on the low end of low risk! This is excellent news. So now, I am going to monitor my ApoB on a monthly basis and see how much of a dent I can put into this number. (I also think the original reading might have been slightly elevated because of a recent 60 hour fast I had done a couple days before). Wish me luck & I'll report more findings soon.

Got my first blood results from @rythmhealth: I have high apoB (apolipoprotein B) which @PeterAttiaMD says is causally related to increased risk of heart disease / atherosclerosis. Meaning, the higher the apoB number, the faster plaque buildup and calcification happens in your arteries. His analogy is similar to smoking: we don't tell smokers to keep smoking, and only until they do enough "damage"/risk, do we tell them to stop. No, we tell them to stop now, so the damage doesn't progress. Same goes for heart disease, which is the leading cause of death globally. Need some help here... anyone here else get a CAC scan? I'm going to get one soon. (Also getting an LP(a) test to figure out how "genetic" it is.) Depending on the results, I think it will determine how aggressive I should be with getting my apoB down. Peter recommends getting this number down as low as humanly possible, especially if you're at increased risk (genetics). From my research, it seems that you can "reverse" damage done at or below 60-70mg/l. I don't want to be on statins. That said, Peter does recommend taking a PCSK9 inhibitor to get this number down even lower, like 30mg/l. Will continue to investigate & report back. Open to any and all opinions, data, feedback. Thx!

I’ve had pretty severe shoulder pain for weeks, likely from disc compression in my neck. Tried PT, stretching, a special pillow and nothing worked. One week on BPC-157 injecting into my delt and I’m basically 100%. Peptides are fucking amazing
