@tsoding I don't know enough C to to understand whats so hateable about it. Auxiliary's (like build tools) are shit and _some_ semantics are lacking, but nothing that tooling can't solve, right? Sincerely don't really know

Man, C and JavaScript really are alike. Both are shit, and both are irreplaceable because just happened to be in the right place in the right time.

@TheNewsTrending @JackPosobiec And the country that commits genocide that is broadcasted live gets the most hate. This is definitely speaking for the majority. Dictatorship is going to make people hate Zionists more. Keep up the brutal crushing of anti zionist free speech. do it more.

@Jvnior You're explicitly pro-genocide and colonialism as long as the islamists are colonizing and murdering. I wish you'll receive what you wish unto others, and we'll have one less terrorist swine to worry about.

The attack at a Hanukkah celebration in Sydney today was a vile act of antisemitic terror. I mourn those who were murdered and will be keeping their families, the Jewish community, and the Chabad movement in my prayers. May the memories of all those killed be a blessing. While we are still waiting for all the facts to emerge, what we already know is devastating. At least 11 dead, including Rabbi Eli Schlanger, who held deep ties to Crown Heights. At least 29 injured. Another Jewish community plunged into mourning and loss, a holiday of light so painfully reduced to a day of darkness. This attack is merely the latest, most horrifying iteration in a growing pattern of violence targeted at Jewish people across the world. Too many no longer feel safe to be themselves, to express their faith publicly, to worship in their synagogues without armed security stationed outside. What happened at Bondi is what many Jewish people fear will happen in their communities too. On Bondi Beach today, as men with long guns targeted innocents, another man ran towards the gunfire and disarmed a shooter. Tonight, as Jewish New Yorkers light menorahs and usher in a first night of Hanukkah clouded by grief, let us look to his example and confront hatred with the urgency and action it demands. When I am Mayor, I will work every day to keep Jewish New Yorkers safe—on our streets, our subways, at shul, in every moment of every day. Let this be a purpose shared by every New Yorker, and let us banish this horrific violence to the past.

@karemha12582226 @AnneHerzberg14 @AlboMP No. If you think that Israel legitimizes hatred against Jews - you're just a racist bigot. An expired antisemite. Go to hell, stop wasting air for legitimate humans.

@Jonathan_Blow It'll be pretty hilarious if the game ends up being named 'Announcement' and stealth-released tomorrow; you would still be 100% truthful and also over deliver on the announcement for The Announcement.

77 years ago today, the UN adopted the Genocide Convention – a treaty to ensure mass atrocities such as the Holocaust never happened again. Tragically, this has not been the reality. Nearly 2 months after the so-called ‘ceasefire’ in Gaza, Palestinians are still enduring Israel’s genocide. Over 350 people have been killed by Israeli forces since October 29, with access to life-saving aid and medical supplies still restricted. And the UK is still failing in its obligation to help prevent and punish genocide. A ‘ceasefire’ does not mean the genocide is over.

@Osint613 I'd make the extra step to require actual ID and have the picture and full name always visible when commenting. No more anonymity. The social media experiment has cost humanity untold amounts in damages. It must be reformed.

@Samuel_Deboni @rfleury I don't think you understand, then. Coding alone, I do that well enough. I worked with multiple teams already that spout that "don't reinvent the wheel" bullcrap to justify importing a country's worth of libraries. So what to do? Reeducate people that don't care? Fire them? 🤔

@rfleury Fair, though I am serious when asking "what's there to do?" Shouting at clouds does nothing - I try, and am watching you try. But the competition is against global software development culture, and the things they teach at schools to people just starting out. What can we do?

@rfleury But it's not a new thing exactly, so what's there to do? Each and every solution is in fact an enabler to modern software development culture. I'm pretty black pilled tbh.

This manifests as horrendous performance of course, but also much higher complexity (thus leading to additional abstraction layers to cope), larger attack surface area, supply chain attacks, and many other now ~ubiquitous problems.

@ThePrimeagen It's great for trivialities. Starting a C project? Write me a build script, wrangle them compiler flags, all that. But for the rest it's easier to Vim through. But the slow typers that don't know Vim and only code trivialities? Basically 90% of the dev world & perfect for ai.

i often feel like i am missing something with ai all these tweets claiming it is the greatest thing ever... yet, i dont see the same thing. I have a list of activities where its incredible at, but none of them at the writing of code, more comprehension only wtf is wrong with me

@cmuratori what would you recommend to a person who's heard much about the available wisdom in HMH and wants in, but has a hard time watching livestreams & runs Linux so can't really code along?

@thorstenball using ai to remove the friction of coding has merit, but delegating to an AI isn't all that different from the JS "npm install everything" we've had over the years, and it created absolute messes that compound complexity. We need less factories, and more entropy control.

@thorstenball 'Writing code by hand' however isn't an issue that needs solving - attempts to solve it created the mess that is modern day programming, with endless delegations and indirection layers. Adding another one would just... Be another one.

What I've been saying in many conversations this year: A *lot* of developer tooling built in the last decades basically had one goal (if you boil it down): reduce the amount of code a programmer has to write by hand. Libraries, frameworks, compilers, .... But what if writing code by hand isn't a bottleneck anymore? (Shut it, people who say that it never was the bottleneck, we both know what I mean.) What if generating code, even in small scope, say 200-500 lines, is cheap and fast now? How does that change developer tooling?
