If you sowed seeds of negativity into a relationship, you shouldn’t act surprised that those seeds sprouted and became trees. Also, don't blame the trees.

@AlexTran677026 Not only was Meryl Streep with him until the very end… He appeared in only five films, all five were nominated for Best Picture, and three won Oscars. That alone makes John Cazale a legend. A true GOAT.

John Cazale was very weak with lung cancer when filming began, and for this reason, all of his scenes were filmed first. Michael Cimino knew from the start that Cazale was dying from cancer, but the studio did not. When they found out, they wanted to replace Cazale. When Meryl Streep learned of their intentions, she threatened to quit if they did. Cazale died in March 1978 shortly after filming was completed. Robert De Niro was so anxious about the film's controversy that he did not attend the Oscars ceremony. He asked the Academy if he could sit out the show backstage, but when the Academy refused, De Niro stayed home in New York City. The Deer Hunter (1978).

This is good news for peace, safety, and accountability in Minneapolis. I have worked closely with Tom over the last year and he has been a major asset to our team— his experience and insight will help us in our wide-scale fraud investigations, which have robbed Americans, and will help us to remove even more public safety threats and violent criminal illegal aliens off the of streets of Minneapolis. We continue to call on the leadership in Minnesota to allow for state and local partnership in our public safety mission. Thank you Mr. President.

@Dryssa4 @nhannahjones @mattyglesias What was true of AA 40 years ago was true of DEI today. White women were the largest beneficiaries of the programs. Labor dept confirmed this, though I’m sure you’ll disagree. ✌🏾

@RodSingleton @nhannahjones @mattyglesias It’s not *just* racial preference. Also we’re talking today not 40yr ago. It doesnt help WW now. It inarguably causes a racial preference effect though - there are plenty of studies showing the effective SAT boost AA provides black/latinos and decrease it provides asians.

Constituents who need help can’t reach us. Over the past 48 hours, our office has been flooded with hateful and threatening voicemails after Charlie Kirk’s assassination. We’ve had to send all calls to voicemail so threats can be documented for Capitol Police, and it’s stopping Lowcountry constituents from getting the assistance they rely on.

@JerseyRedPAC @charise_lee Risk remains, however small. Further, there are kids who for whatever medical reason can’t receive certain vaccines. These kids shouldn’t be treated the same as those unvaxxed by choice, and the choice not to vax puts them at huge risk. You have to think beyond your own nose.

@charise_lee Wait. I've never understood this. If your child is vaccinated, what risk does an unvaccinated child pose to them?

Unvaccinated children shouldn’t be allowed in school‼️ You absolutely have the right to choose not to participate in modern medicine but you DO NOT get to inflict those choices on the rest of us who believe in science‼️

@onigbindejoao @DougWahl1 It could split their fanbase, alienate some sponsors, and hurt their national image, potentially impacting revenue and recruitment over time. Political backlash might also keep them in divisive debates, overshadowing their achievements. Time will tell I suppose.

After careful consideration, I have decided to vote against Pete Hegseth’s nomination for Secretary of Defense. While I appreciate his courageous military service and his ongoing commitment to our servicemembers and their families, I am concerned that he does not have the experience and perspective necessary to succeed in the job. Our military is under tremendous pressure right now. Active conflicts in the Middle East and Europe combined with escalating threats in the Pacific, all against a backdrop of severe financial challenges and four years of ineffective leadership by the Biden Administration, make this an especially critical time for those who lead our military. The next Secretary of Defense will be responsible for managing a massive bureaucracy that includes nearly three million employees and a budget of nearly $850 billion. In addition, our next Secretary faces long-standing procurement and supply issues that continued to worsen under the Biden Administration. In sum, the Secretary is going to be facing a number of incredibly complex problems that are going to require highly skilled management ability. I am concerned that Mr. Hegseth does not have the management experience and background that he will need in order to tackle these difficulties. His limited managerial experience involved running two small non-profit organizations that had decidedly mixed results. I am also concerned about multiple statements, including some in the months just before he was nominated, that Mr. Hegseth has made about women serving in the military. He and I had a candid conversation in December about his past statements and apparently evolving views. I am not convinced that his position on women serving in combat roles has changed. Women comprise nearly 18 percent of our active-duty military. They continue to make critical and valuable contributions to our national defense. I have long advocated that women who wish to serve in and can meet the rigorous standards of combat roles should be able to do so. And numerous women have proved that they can accomplish this difficult feat. Currently, thousands of women are serving in combat roles and many others serve in non-combat functions. Their service is essential to the success of our military. Mr. Hegseth also appears to lack a sufficient appreciation for some of the policies that the military is required to follow because they are codified in the laws of the United States of America. While I understand his points on the importance of up-to-date and workable rules of engagement, our prohibitions against torture come from American laws and treaties ratified by the United States, including the Geneva Conventions. Therefore, I will vote against the nomination.

@TrulyTayo @BlackKnight10k @TikTokPolicy They literally chose to “go dark” despite the current White House having already said they would not enforce the court decision and would leave it to the incoming administration. TikTok could have continued uninterrupted but chose that stunt.

STATEMENT FROM TIKTOK: In agreement with our service providers, TikTok is in the process of restoring service. We thank President Trump for providing the necessary clarity and assurance to our service providers that they will face no penalties providing TikTok to over 170 million Americans and allowing over 7 million small businesses to thrive. It’s a strong stand for the First Amendment and against arbitrary censorship. We will work with President Trump on a long-term solution that keeps TikTok in the United States.

Yesterday @WatchMojo released a list of the top 30 films that were so bad sequels were canceled. Of that number, I think I saw 28 in the theater. Number 2 on the list was #JohnCarter which @RodSingleton & I both agree was a good film. Seems like half were Young Adult movies.
