@EllieCumbo Blair needs to answer a question: you enacted major constitutional reforms in 1997, such as the HRA, which consciously sought to limit government policy options so were you right then or are you right now in suggesting that government needs to tear up the rule book?

It's not a vindication or a take-down of any individual- the message is much bigger and more important than that. It's uncomfortable reading for everyone- which to me looks rather like a sign he might be right.

@InspM0r0s3 @AgentP22 Are you some sort of anti-police creep running a false flag operation? If so, GTF. If not, you’re an idiot and your sneering attacks on ordinary people trying to do a bit of good are, er, counterproductive.

Absolutely ridiculous. An annual children’s event has been cancelled because police now say a slow-moving taxi convoy is too difficult to manage. It beggars belief.

@drowsyfire @LewisVickers2 @julesMcBot I’m sure individual detectives did their best but Police Scotland is under huge pressure from its paymasters in the Scottish government to look no further. We need a petition to ask the National Crime Agency, which has jurisdiction in Scotland, to investigate the scandal properly

Every single Salmond supporter who demanded we respect and accept his verdict without question... but are now refusing to accept and respect that Nicola Sturgeon was found to have committed no wrong doing by Police Scotland, are making huge arses of themselves today 🙄

@tomhfh Hope not Hate has become what it purports to oppose. It uses unscrupulous methods. It retails smears and distortions as fact. It targets people who are by no stretch of the imagination fascists. The only qualification needed to get on their hit list is to be disliked by the left.

I find it hard to believe the author of this ‘analysis’ read that tweet as anything other than an obvious joke. What’s concerning here is I think I know why they included it. They wanted to use the word ‘waterboard’ in the headline, and knew most people wouldn’t read the article. Duplicitous.

@LewisVickers2 @julesMcBot And God knows where else. The police may not know the half of it - and given the non-cooperative attitude of the klepto-couple, they probably never will. Bear in mind that Murrell’s earlier years at the SNP (and elsewhere) fell outwith the scope of the investigation.

@homeinangus @AgentP22 Wow, that’s a charitable interpretation. An alternative one is that they were in it together but he was bang to rights so took the rap while she, as we now know, far from helping the police, refused to answer any questions at interview and sat in silence like a seasoned criminal.

@AgentP22 Was it greed or was it the pathetic attempts by a weak man in a loveless marriage trying to buy Sturgeons affection. He didn’t need the money, he wasn’t a klepto, he stole to fill an emotional void and win some favour from her.

Nearly half a million allegedly missing. £2.1 million spent investigating it. And the SNP still wonder why public trust has collapsed.

@AgentP22 The fraudster’s wife shared a home with him and saw all kinds of luxury goods appear, from domestic appliances to top-of-the-range vehicles. The fraudster’s boss knew suspicions were being raised about money missing from the accounts. If only they had met and compared notes.

@julesMcBot Get real. Salmond was in trouble because a group of SNP activists close to Sturgeon (hmm..) accused him of sexual harassment. Sturgeon is in trouble because her husband stole massive amounts of money - multiples of his annual income - and blew it on stuff that sat around her home

@RoddyFor Don't you see the hypocrisy? The Salmond jury didn't convict because they applied the legal standard of "beyond reasonable doubt" e.g. not enough evidence.... Sturgeon wasn't charged because of the same reason...why accept for one situation only?

@rik_big Does Rik REALLY believe Scots will stop paying attention to this scandal and won’t ask awkward questions like “What did the ex-First Minister think about her husband filling their family home with expensive purchases that made no sense and were far beyond their household budget?”

@WingsScotland @VanguardBears Occasionally you find a couple who are married, share a home and might even work in the same place but one of them is heavily involved in acquisitive crime while the other is oblivious. Some people are just a bit naive and trusting - but Nicola Sturgeon ain’t one of those people.

Aamer Anwar has sent Scottish media a very threatening-sounding letter today warning them that if they don’t moderate any comments making defamatory allegations about Nicola Sturgeon, he’s been instructed to “consider” legal action and/or complaints to IPSO. Ooh, scary.

@RosaZambonini Scotswomen are well known for their lack of curiosity about friends, neighbours and family members. They’re rarely suspicious of people, especially those who’ve recently come into money; particularly when it’s unexplained. And they tend to be timid and trusting with their menfolk

Never have I seen so many “feminists” sticking the boot into a woman. If every wife/gf was to have known/been complicit/an accessory to a mans crimes we’d have many more womens prisons. People seem oddly gleeful and keen to shout down SNP members who are the victims. Odd.

@ionafyfe You should be locked up for that post. Not because it’s a criminal offence to spout bizarre fantasies about Sturgeon being a saint but because if you actually believe what you’re saying, then you must be suffering severe hallucinations which are best treated in a secure facility.

Nicola Sturgeon passed her driving test aged 53. Her schedule and work life had stood in the way of her doing something as normal as learning to drive. Is it really THAT unimaginable that her and her husband had become so distant and estranged that they didn’t “socialise” or go on holiday? If you ask me, this is a tragic state of affairs. The party money was stolen. Not tax payer public funds. Party money. SNP members are the victim of this fraud, but at the heart of the story is a woman who was possibly living in a challenging, and potentially dysfunctional marriage, who was betrayed.

@daninspain70 @WingsScotland @ginadavidsonlbc @theSNP Serious embezzlement took place. There are three key people who could have helped Murrell: the leader of the party that had its accounts plundered; the person who shared a domestic dwelling with the criminal; and the woman who was married to him. I reckon one of them was in on it

@WSJ A radical left turn? Cepeda is an ideological soulmate of the current President. He’s the status quo candidate. That’s not your only error. The polling trend shows support moving away from the left and towards the candidate of the radical right 🐅

@admcollingwood We had broadened the discussion from Iran to the more general issue of civilian casualties. I regret those but they can never be the paramount consideration, duty to King and Country being the most obvious superior claim. I regard the Islamic regime as our enemy and want it gone.

I, too, have a tear in my eye now it looks as though a peace deal might be reached. For a while, it really looked like Trump was doing great work for ordinary Iranian folk by bombing them and slaughtering their schoolgirls. But now he apparently wants to discontinue the war, when there are so many more Iranians he could kill and maim to help them, and so many more ways he could strengthen Iran's strategic position yet further. It's also *so* un-Jesus-like to stop killing people. A sad, sad time for all those who care about peace and Iran.
Brianna Wu@BriannaWu

What is saddest to me about this is Trump betraying the Iranian people. Trump told them if they rose up, we’d have their backs. They did, 40,000 were slaughtered by their own government. Now, Trump folded and they’ll be sent to the torture dungeons and hanging gallows.

@IainMcFadden @ginadavidsonlbc You switch unselfconsciously from responding to events at Parkhead by criticising the wrongdoers to responding to events today by criticising someone who tried to stop the wrongdoers. No harm in you back your football team blindly but backing your party blindly damages Scotland.

@Lairdysnr @ER07070707 You’re not guilty of any criminal offence but your moral failings are on full display. “Time to move on” is a shocking thing to say. If I was part of any movement this had happened to, I’d not rest until it was cleansed of the corrupt coterie that dragged my cause into disrepute.

@RobertJenrick Robert, it’s sad to see you playing the same foolish game as the most blinkered and short-termist partisans on both sides of the Tory-Reform divide. There are better ways of proving your credentials to both the Reform leadership and the broader patriotic movement: go after 🟥&🟩.
