@MattWalshBlog All I'll remember the 2010s for is an overwhelming quantity of shitty ironic jokes in movies
English

Every decade in modern American history can be identified and defined by its own style, its own approach to music, film, fashion, its own aesthetic. That seems to have stopped right around 2010. The 2010s don't really have their own unique feel, even in retrospect. The 2020s certainly don't. We're more than halfway through the decade. What are the movies, music, style, and trends that this decade will be remembered for? It's like we fell into some kind of cultural blackhole 15 years ago.
English

@MattWalshBlog Do you think this is the direction all political media is heading in, or a result of being a conservative voice during a Republican admin? And the format will change when a Democrat inevitably takes back over?
FWIW I like the new world order and hope it stays long-term
English

Of course I expected the “you’re talking about yourself!” comments. To some extent, yeah. I felt myself getting too repetitive on my show so we switched the format pretty drastically and started doing much more in depth analysis of a single topic per show. We’ve covered a very wide range of topics over the past few months, and for the most part the audience has responded positively to it. We’ve had some shows that flopped in this format and some that have hit big. I’d prefer that over sticking to a boring formula that guarantees a moderate number of clicks every time. But I’ve also always tried to find different ways of approaching the material. That’s why I’ve made two movies and two series over the past few years. And I have some ideas for the future that are even more outside the box. You need to keep trying new things in this business or you’ll just shrivel up and die. At least that’s how I feel when I’m doing the same thing the same way for too long.
English

Absolutely true. Most right wing commentary in general now is boring as hell. Same takes, same arguments, same points repeated over and over and over again. Same personal squabbles. Same feuds and fights. Tedious. Redundant. The audience is bored to death and rightly so.
Cernovich@Cernovich
Right now almost every "MAGA" account is slop. Zero personality. It's all a rush to post the same clips from cable news and add a formulaic BREAKING headline. Maybe that makes money via engagement. It's tedious. AI is winning. I don't see many humans on this site anymore.
English

@favoritetechgal @NoContextHumans I appreciate the honesty but I can tell you don't have kids lol
English

@NoContextHumans You don't put your kids first before your partner. I feel if you save your wife, you can always give birth to more if you wish.
My honest take though

@Actually_Tina Yeah when I think of "break glass" moments it's usually cheap, fan-servicey wins (like a Sephiroth EX), everything they showed off was in service of the fans but clearly very hard earned
English

@Jacksepticeye This is just going to be a shitty “church bad” story isn’t it
English

@MattWalshBlog Nothing humbled me as fast as my first night at sea in the Navy when we were far enough from land to not see any. It's beautiful and terrifying and beautiful again. I can't fathom the balls on the guys who sailed into that on wooden boats without heating and A/C.

I've said before that ship captains during the age of discovery were some of the most impressive human beings to ever live. We have trouble appreciating just how unimaginably great these men were. They had to play the role of navigator, cartographer, astronomer, logistics manager, military commander, judge, police captain, diplomat, CEO, recruiter, accountant and governor, all at the same time, and all under extreme duress, out in the middle of the ocean, cut off from the rest of the world where the penalty for one wrong decision was the death of everyone on board. These are some of the most brilliant and gifted human beings the world has ever known. Nobody on Earth today can come close to matching them. They had a level of both skill and physical courage that just doesn't exist on the planet today.

Christopher Columbus is the ultimate IQ test. You immediately know that someone is a retarded halfwit if they start screeching some nonsense about how Columbus was a genocidal maniac or whatever. Intelligent students of history understand that he is one of the great men of western civilization. This is an awesome move by the White House.

@RustyBarstow @michaeljknowles @AOC Bro I know you know the difference between risk in investing and zero-sum gambling on outcomes for events the bet money never touches
English

@michaeljknowles @AOC Interesting. Can you define gamble? So you think prediction markets are gambling? How about stock markets?
English

This is sad: I agree with @AOC.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez@AOC
This is sad. I know as a politician these companies are going to spend a billion dollars against me for saying it but 🤷🏽♀️ Pervasive gambling is not good for society. It turns life into a casino, traps people in addiction & debt, surges domestic violence, and fosters manipulation.

Alysa Liu recently went viral again, this time for her figure-skating TikTok rant on the history of the Punic Wars.
"The Third Punic War was, in fact, defensive," the skater said, adding that "it is important to remember that the Western Mediterranean was predominantly under Roman protection and alliance before Carthage repeatedly violated treaties, rebuilt its fleet in secret, and attacked it’s ally Numidia, literally right on Rome’s doorstep."
